    Default GoPro/alternatives advice needed

Good day and thanks in advance. I can't seem to find the thread that I read some time ago here about buying alternatives to the GoPro cameras. Have been thinking about putting a few videos together for some offroading trips that are in my future and I was thinking instead of buying a really expensive GoPro, I could get maybe three cheaper ones and that would save me a lot of time needed to relocate the camera for different viewpoints. If anyone has any experience with a camera brand that's durable, somewhat waterproof, can stabilise a usually pretty shaky ride and can be remotely activated, that would be awesome. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

There are numerous highly rated GoPro knockoffs on Amazon that even come with full accessory suites for under $100. Just pick one, ideally with a Sony sensor. They probably all come out of the same factory. If you don't like it, returns are free.

If you want good image stabilization though you are going to have to pay up, you aren't getting that on the cheap cameras.

    I bought this

It works well for my dad's purposes just for snorkelling. Plus after writing a review they send you even more accessories. Choose from extra battery, floating selfie stick, or I don't remember the last one.

My only recommendation is that knock off without stabilization produces not that great footage or footage that requires huge resource in post to correct.

DJ OSMO Action just came out and for $470 a bit cheaper than GoPro 7 and both have good stabilization.

On a bit of budget side with stabilization, you are probably looking at Yi 4K+ for $300.

Also cheap action cam are only waterproof via case. Where DJ OSMO Action and GoPro get 10M of depth right out of the box.

I have not played with the new DJ OSMO Action but given they have twist on ND filter and spec similar to GoPro 7 and lower price, it's already a winner to me on spec and early review. But with all DJI stuff, buggy software is my only concern.

Thanks for your input guys. Much appreciated. For now, gonna try two Akaso EK7000 Pro's and see how well they work for what I need.
Yes TonyTiger, that was the one.

    Cheers all,

    Rob
