    Default What Watch for $1-2k...?

I really like some of the Breitling watches. But I can't afford it.
The Navitimer 1 B03 Chronograph Rattrapante 45 in particular... I like this colour and style...

If you had to spend something like 1 or 2k on a watch with that kinda style.. What would you buy..?
Does Calgary have a secondhand watch dealer..?

If that’s your style, Hamilton all the way

Justin at Gem would be the man you want to talk to

I guess by Beyond standards this isn't really a "baller" watch, $1000 is about as much as I'd ever spend on a watch and if I did, being the G-Shock addict that I am I'd get something that I wouldn't have to worry about.

Personally, I would go with Oris over Hamilton. Oris also has some Pilot design watches that won't be quite like the Navitimer but similar styles. I would check canwatchco as several times lightly used pieces come up at decent prices. That includes all brands really. Ever since I got introduced to that site it's been downhill in terms of buying new pieces. lol.

I would Longines over Hamilton. Of course, Gem at Bankers is your spot. Hamilton probably has the closest quality match to a Navtimer in their Khaki Collection.

EDIT: Sorry I got super excited when you just said watch and didn't read your full message... maybe someone else might find the below useful.

If you are willing to go a bit lower price point, I would consider a Seiko Presage Cocktail time... I bought one recently and it is so staggeringly beautiful and incredibly well made.

I have heard great things about Christopher Ward Tridents, and you can't go wrong with Oris (especially the Atelier with complications), Victorinox or Frederique Constant.

Hamilton I am a fan of as well, but something about their design language doesn't really speak to me outside of a few. Intramatic 68, Railroad, certain Venturas are a few.

Other good brands with less brand cache in Canada are Mido (Sold in Calgary in that shop connected to the Audio Room), Alpina, Edox, Maurice Lacroix, Certina, Raymond Weil.

Whatever you get, buy it from Justin. He has been very good to me.

I can't recommend Hamilton though as mine has broke 3 times now - thankfully Justin/Hamilton have fixed it for me each time now so far. Love the look but they don't seem to be made that well, at least not the Khaki Automatic.

+1 for Justin, he is fantastic.

I also have a Khaki Automatic, mine has been great (and is well used). It's running a little fast now, but I think that's probably just due to never being serviced in the last 5+ years since purchase.

My winding mechanism has failed 3 times now, I don't wear it daily and the watch is babied. I probably just got a lemon as most people seem to be happy with them.

Hamilton/Tissot/Longines all fit into your scope. As others have mentioned, Justin @ Gem by Carati is - by far - the guy to go to. He has sold me... 8 watches now?

Oh I forgot, if you like that exact style of the Navitimer, I believe Sinn makes one that's identical pretty much. Before I got my Navitimer, I came across that one and thought about it. I ultimately just got the Navitimer but Sinn looked real close. Not sure how much the Sinn costs but definitely nowhere near the Breitling.

My buddy Ryan who owns Bezel House here in town has a Tissot on consignment right now that is a similar feel to what you seem to like, albeit a bit less flashy, for $700 right now, which is a great deal on that watch!

I wouldn't hesitate to suggest checking out the Mido line of Swiss watches as well if you want a nice quality piece that fits your budget range. In N. America they are not as widely marketed but world wide they are very well respected. A fun fact is that Mido is the 3rd largest manufacturer of COSC Swiss certified chronometer watches with only Omega and Rolex making more.

    Seiko (Passage) or Hamilton

Sinn is great choice, and J. Anderson is going to carry them in few month. But most likely over $2K, and being new product to Calgary, probably not much discount yet, and by the way, the Sinn "Navitimer" is not that much less than the Breitling...

By the way, TAG is on sale at J. Anderson, huge discount! (they don't carry TAG anymore) lots of choice for $1.5-2K Great Great value!!

Thanks for the mentions guys, greatly appreciated!

https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-ca/...-aviation.html would give you options in that theme. First one that comes to mind is the x-wind.
Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
