Default New car wash, very impressive but in the NE

Was out a couple of nights ago and stumbled upon an impressive new vehicle wash in the NE.. It's located northeast of the Country Hills Mercedes Benz dealership on Barlow Trail and 116 Avenue NE.

There's a large multibay bay, another over size bay that can handle 9' 6" vehicles and on the one end, two massive bays that can accommodate vehicles up to 15' 6". The two large bays appear to be long enough to handle a tractor unit with a trailer.

Impressive facility, that is for sure.

I wash my trailer once a year or so. Might try this place as it's between my house and my storage facility. My Honda fit gets clean when I drive through savage rainstorms.

My review, kinda irritated. baygirl and I stopped in yesterday, and gave the truck a quick rinse as we had been driving on gravel roads and figured we would check the place out.

Swiped the credit card and washed the truck. Like I said, just a quick rinse. When we were done, hit the stop button (there is two of them, hit both) and the machine says $3.50. I think that is about right, and we leave.

Checked the credit card transactions today, and they charged us $9.75...

Temporary authorization. It'll go back to $3.50 when it's finalized in a day or 2.

Ya this is super common. The car wash by T&T in Harvest Hills does an authorization for $31.50. It reverses it quite quickly though after you're done the car wash.

Didn't think of that. Kind of a weird amount to pre-auth for though... we shall see.

Can echo what rage2 and realazy said.

When I use my card at the car cash it'll pre-auth for $20 bucks but charges me the $5 that I use. Not sure why it does that but it's never been an issue.

Lots of companies use pre-auths/holds to make sure you can pay for the service if you go over or to prevent you from not paying after the service is rendered. It helps to protect the establishment from theft, from people using cards that are maxed out, fraudulent cards, or debit cards that have insufficient funds and being long gone by the time they find out. Gas stations, hotels, car rentals, and even the strippers all pre-auth various amounts. It's basically an insurance policy for businesses that see high percentages of theft/damage/fraud. You see it most often at gas stations so people can't fill up for free and drive off.

That cost was in reference to the new large hightech carwashes, so several bays and a mix of automatic and DIY bays like the one in the NE and off Blackfoot. My Uncle owns a company that builds them and said that was a rough ballpark for those units. (Which I believe he built one of them)
Ah, cool - you would have better info then. That seems like a lot!

Went to big bucket crowfoot this week, what a joke. Water seemed soapy, but didn't do shit against the road grime and bugs. Centex is way better and cheaper too.

Ya know, if I'm out that way I'll try it. Figured the same group of car wash degenerates would be interested in my off-topic post.

Time for Beyond to register as a charity organization and start owning properties…. We in the religion of: Aiding those needing help to pay for loses during monthly new car swamps, derailing threads, find @ExtraSlow a job, help members buy own land to build large garages in inner city for cheap but at same time will yield them 1000% returns, increase @ZenOps precise metals reserve.

Ricky purchase with the king of the car wash, top gear, across deerfoot.

Nolan hill wash is now all open but their foam is so weak compared to top gear and their auto wash has no touchless option.

Slightly different clientele though, iWash has semi bays vs Top Gear which has way more wand wash bays.

May be why they have to sell. Don't make enough with semi bays. And Petro also have an auto wash across the street according to google.
