Really good movie. I have to watch Rush again. I think the drama in that movie was more intense.
That’s because the drama in Rush was very much fiction. In reality Hunt and Lauda were great friends with great respect for one another.

That was the best thing about this movie, it was a car movie that even my wife loved.

I need to look into some details on the movie though. The big push by the one Ford exec to sewer his own team seems like it must have been Hollywoodized, hard to imagine someone being that stupid over a weird personal grudge.
More exaggerated than anything. One thing I liked about this movie is that it mostly follows history, unlike rush.

I guess it's the modern lens, but in reality many of the people in the story were well known for their excessive smoking, I don't recall seeing much of any of it in the film. Also the dynamic between Iacocca and Ford was a lot more intense, but that could be a movie all unto itself, and it should be. Iacocca's book is a good read.
Still, even my kids enjoyed it, reality still writes better story lines than Hollywood can imagine.

Saw that movie last night; such a good visual experience especially as a car enthusiast.
Dead quiet too so was able to enjoy it in peace

    Give it hell; 7000+

The pit lane shenanigans was hilarious from Shelby.
@rage2 where did you learn about the full history to say it’s accurate? I want to read up on it a lot now, especially that drama in Daytona and the finish of LeMans.

Excellent book, it covers a number of topics the film didn't have time to include, such as the internal politics regarding Ferrari's choice of driver that may have lost them the race.

Mark Donahue's The Unfair Advantage is another outstanding racing book I'd recommend.

    Yes it was mostly true.

Source: I attended a ford GT symposium last year at Fred Phillips collection where he had special guests including Safir Engineering.

They talked and spilled stories. So good.

The 217-218 on the back straight was true too.
