Anyone doing it? Contemplating it, but i don't have a gravel or CX bike.. Seems to me that with the new route, CX is the way to go

I've been signed up since December
Didn't realize the course was different this year - tech guide still showed the old version.
Husky road is super steep I think - I'm not sure I could do it on my CX setup gearing wise.
I saw you were one of the guys who won one of the early early bird draws. AB Parks closed the top of moose mountain couple weeks ago for construction, climbduro announced the route change this morningThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What is the rig you're planning on?
Not too sure yet - last year I rode my bikepacking rig. 32T front chainring with 11-32 in the back on a 29er rigid dropbar bike. Worked great except the last section of Moose summit where I didn't have enough gears. I have an 11-42T cassette I could throw on there, which is probably needed for Husky road (2.5km at 12% average) and also Family Guy up (more technical). I think I'll scope out Husky road sometime to see if I can even clear it on my XC bike's gearing...
For me the CX bike is out of the question, as it's 40T front and 11-32 cassette. No way I'd clear 2.5km at 12%.
I know Bryce from Calgary Cycle did the whole thing on his Search the other day. Not sure what he's running for gearing
Might be borrowing a Search and getting on this thing... wife is away that weekend and no tri’s lined up
32 x 11-42 should be plenty. I'm 28 x 11-42 on my full susp heavy 29er and most of the time I'm in the 36 cog. I assume you ride back down the road as none of those trails are sanctioned?
Signed up for some suffering. Do I go with MTB clips or power meter?! Borrowed buddies Search
I'd go with MTB pedals or you won't have much fun on the descents.
Got whooped out there by a storm yesterday, underestimated the husky road, and gravel bike is not fun on single track...should be an interesting experience this weekend.
Exactly why I'll be on my mountain bike. Hopefully gear is easy enough as I haven't scoped out the course yet. I'll be slow(er) on the pavement but I'll have so much fun on the singletrack. I'll be in pink helmet, probably with pink cyclemeisters jersey. Come say hi before the race!
