Default How much electricity does your house use?

So a buddy of mine is doing some kind of project about household energy usage, and he got me to look up my last year worth of energy bills and now I'm thinking about it. Seems like mine is reasonably consistent around 1000 kWh, with a bump in the summer to 1200 kWh because of my AC use. This is for an 1800 square foot 2-story duplex with four people living in it. About half of our lights are LED, and I run my furnace fan 24/7.

So, how many kWh does your household use? Do you do anything specific to reduce your electricity usage?

We hover around 600kWh each month.

2 adults in a large 2 floor house.

Don't much for reducing... but just don't use electricity unless needed. Laundry is once or twice a week at the most. In the rooms we frequent the most installed wifi bulbs so we can turn off or on as needed.

Was 449 kWh this month and I think I kicked the AC on a bit 2 weeks ago.

2 people about 2100 sq. ft.

about 750kWh per month for us in a 2500 sq ft 2 story with 3 people living in it, but i only have data til april. Will be interesting to see how May ends up being considering i had an A/C installed late April and was running a lot of the time in May including furnace fan running 24/7.

I really need to figure out how much my furnace fan uses. Some people say it's a significant draw.

We average 1250 kwh year round in a bungalow. Most usage is in the winter because of the hot tub and furnace fan on 24/7.

When our fan is on low speed in the winter, it draws 2.5 amps constantly running, which is about 210 kwh per month

Summer we run around 1000 kWh without the hottub and half time living at the house and it jumps around 1500-2000 kWh with hottub and being home more often.

LED lights & 3200 sq ft house.

Two furnaces on 24/7, 1 HRV that runs 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off 24/7.

3400 sqft. 2 adults, 2 kids. Boiler with in floor heat, 9 zones (including garage) and Domestic hot water. 1 fridge and 1 upright freezer. Windows home server running 24/7. 5ton AC on 1 furnace only.

Basically, I have a fuck load of fans and pumps running all the time.

We used about 1600kwh last month, no a/c but that’s running half a dozen 3D printers nearly 24/7 at about 200 watts a piece

Hmm, and I still use more than you. I need to track this down.

Don't you still live in a 50's neighborhood? We can never compete with new houses. The house envelope is just too poor.

It's an infill though. Built in 2008. Duplex infill too, so a lot less exterior surface area. It sure holds the heat well in the winter.

Furnace and HRV motors are DC. Not sure about the rest, but I suspect they are DC as well.

AC motors will break the bank.

2 adults, new build, ~2700 sqft finished. Peaked out at ~350kwh in January. It's now down to ~280kwh in April.

I run the furnace fan about 18 hours a day with the Ecobee settings. No AC. All LED bulbs in my pot lights.

I have a NAS that runs 24/7 with ip cameras and a bunch of homekit automation accessories.

Maybe your neighbor is running a heat pump through the party wall

    1600sq ft detached home

    2 adults

We're normally around 375kwh and peaked at 450 for Feb. Will probably be higher again now that we have a portable AC unit.
