Default Best way to hang bikes

4 bikes in the garage..kind of taking over. What's the best way to get them out of the way. Hang them horizontal from roof? Pulley System? Thoughts?

I built a rack for my condo using a modified version of this design.

I guess you can modify it to hold more than two bikes..?

I use these BBB hooks. https://www.bing.com/images/search?v...0&vt=0&eim=1,6

But it depends on what depth of wheel you have as well, these hooks i use for my normal sized wheels, they won't fit aero wheels more than about 40mm in depth.

Couple of these babies in the ceiling for each bike (or just one if you want to just hang by one wheel):

And if you like this idea, but have tall aero wheels:

I use the same. Pretty convinient but you would still have to move a vehicle depending where you hang it.

Safe unless the rope breaks or the hook slips off (could easily slip off some seats).

Pulley system is what you want if the bikes have suspension and hydraulic disk brakes - it's not ideal to hang them upside down or vertically for extended periods. You want to keep your fork seals lubricated and you don't want air bubbles working their way through the brake lines to the master cylinder. If your forks are leaking at all too (separate issue) they will leak oil/fluid in your garage. If they're rigid bikes, then whatever is convenient and suits your space. You aren't likely to have any major issues but if it's an expensive bike with hydraulic brakes and suspension I would keep it right-side-up with a pulley system. Plus it's super convenient (and fun) to get up/down.

The correct answer is park on the driveway and turn your garage into storage space.

And now that you have so much more space, may as well buy more bikes haha

I have 3 bikes on my garage ceiling using this system, its nice that theyre not in the way at all. The only problem is how easy the ropes come off the wheels, every now and then the rope will slip off the roof mounted pully wheel and i'll have to break out the ladder to get it back on. Princess auto has these

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Do you also store your clean dishes in the dishwasher?

I just screwed big hooks into the ceiling of the garage. Works just fine.

this was the first that I installed and it could hold 2 bikes no problem.
    https://www.amazon.ca/CargoLoc-32519.../dp/B003M694O2

then I bought something like this from Canadian Tire to hold another bike
    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Stalwart...0012/300143973

the only downside with these is that if you have them mounted on the side wall of your garage, depending on the size of your vehicles it can be challenging getting inside.
I use bungee cords to hold the bike at an angle to make it easier getting into our car

That's essnetially what im currently doing, and just too cramped with cars. Think i'm going full ceiling, but will likely need to grab the ladder to get the bike down (which will annoy me..but happy wife..)

I, too, am using this pulley system from Canadian Tire. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...8212p.html#srp

It does take a bit of time to get it up and down, so I just leave it down for the summer because ain't nobody got time.
