    I don't see that happening.

Nor do I think the number will be that great.

    Exactly my thoughts.
    Gio- Andersson
    Hanifin - Valimaki
    Gustafson - Forbort

I think the flames will expose Backlund, Kylington to expansion.
arggg... no... Backlund wlll never get exposed for nothing in an expansion draft.

Right now it's most likely Benette

I don't see the Flames giving up on Bennett.
    I'm betting he is protected.

They will either start trading away assets like Backlund etc, but he will be gone.

Oh man that's tough choice. You need Backs and his solid 2 way play. Bennett only seems to show up for playoffs but you need to get to the playoffs so he can show up lol

I hope Valimaki smooth skating still intact.

I feel bad for the BJ's but damn, they played a great game. That was a lot of fun to watch. Both teams were playing some really good hockey

As a Canucks fan, I was not stoked about my team playing the Blues in the 1st round. Seemed like a quick 1st round exit waiting to happen against the champs. They play heavy and Vancouver's stars are lightweights.

But jeez - just like in their last game against each other, both Dallas and the Blues just haven't found their mojo in the playoffs. Besides a few surges, Canucks were the better team through 60. Binnington was not good. They look rusty.

Same with Dallas. Technically, I believe they are a better team than Calgary as the Blues are than Vancouver. But Dallas too is not playing Dallas hockey. They have no drive it seems. They didn't stand a chance until they lucked out with a couple quick ones to somehow get back into the game.

As if no fans in the stands isn't odd enough, I think these playoffs are going to end up producing an unusual amount of upsets. Seems like some teams just didn't come to play.

The Philly Montreal series is pretty awesome. The number of amazing saves both sides is mind blowing. I think Philly is going to take it all this year.

It has been a good matchup so far. Philly has been quietly building a strong team over there - though I don't believe they are good enough to beat the Bruins so regrettably I am still picking the Bears to win it all.

I am actually more impressed with the Habs seemingly getting their shit together. They dispatched the Penguins easily and no I don't think they will.beat the Flyers but they have shown more drive than I expected. Doing it for Price.

Binnington is overrated, he got hot last year and we all saw what happened. Vancouver has enough scoring talent to go chance for chance with St.Louis IF Marky holds the fort and doesn't let in shots from the corners. For a massive goalie like him he shouldn't be beat over his shoulders. If the Canucks play like they did last night, with speed and physicality, it will be a short series as the Blues won't have time to wake up.

The sample size really isn't huge for Binnington. Yes he has generally played excellent since arriving, but he is not showing well right now for sure. Blues always have decent goaltending though no matter who is in net. They limit high quality scoring chances well.

As for Marky - he has been inconsistent so far. Those (repeated) corner shots are unacceptable. Less so than a couple of soft goals he has also let in. I think he will be fine as play continues. Lots of players through the league are still rusty.

I expect an injured Canuck or two tonight. Blues are gonna have to come out to maim and injure.

Habs killed Philly tonight. I reiterate how impressed I've been with them. Won it for Julien indeed.

Good job NHL schedule makers. 0 out of 3 Canadian teams were playing on a Saturday for HNIC. Surprised Sportsnet or CBC didn't have something to say about it.

    This.
And in hindsight, Montreal and Chicago were not going to make the playoffs, so putting them up against teams who >90% chance of making it and eliminating them seems pretty shitty.
If they wanted to treat so many fringe teams like as if they had a prayer, that's maybe where the Round Robin should've been.

How are you suggesting the NHL switched up their round robin format? If a 5th seed cannot beat a 12th seed, that is their fault and no one else's. There was obviously no perfect solution, but the way it all came together gave everyone a pretty fair shake and at the end of the day the teams that lost only have their own performance (or lack thereof) to blame.

You're certainly correct that those teams should have been beaten.
I was suggesting something more like the fringe teams all battled in a Round Robin for only 2~ish positions. Let them get beat up and take the long way in. Winning a best-of-5 isn't a tough enough road to get in when you really weren't going to make it.
