Demko doesn't get any props around the league, but the kid has some skills. Some Canucks fans are suggesting Marky walks in favour of a much more cost effective alternative in Demko, considering Vancouver's cap woes. This becomes particularly of interest considering the expansion draft and the fact the Canucks may lose one of them anyway if both are signed. Personally, I have not seen enough sample size to feel comfortable with Demko as the #1 goalie but I can see the point. One amazing game in the playoffs is fairly impressive, but hardly a worthwhile sample size.
As has been said, Canucks did not deserve to win the last game. They showed a lot of heart sticking in it and having a good 3rd but Demko is the primary reason for the win. Can he do it 2 more times? Back to back no less? I would be highly surprised. Canucks are going to have to come up with more as a whole - especially if they force a game 7. The key to this series is maintaining a forecheck and breaking into the offensive zone - something Vegas has done better (often much better) than Vancouver. After going through the Wild, the Blues, and now Vegas, Vancouver probably had the toughest schedule physically-wise of any team in the league so the fact they are even still in it is nothing short of amazing in my opinion. You gotta think they are banged up and tired as hell, yet they continue to make a go of it.
Proud to be a Canucks fan - regardless of whether or not they get past this round. Before the playoffs started I doubt many (if any) "experts" would have predicted they would eliminate the Wild and the Stanley Cup champs, and be 2 games away from the WCF against what some believe to be the best team in the league. Good times ahead.
