Would be great to have a hands-on (female) teacher for that! It would definitely help a lot manage their life better.

Sidenote: I'd love to see a Black Mirror episode on this concept, considering the shit that's been on this season already

I can say that my CALM class had absolutely zero content on anything to do with running a business. Yes it covered budgeting, but definitely not business. So he isn't the only one with an experience that contradicts yours.

My math20 in 1998 did not include anything on budgeting. CALM class was the only place we "learned" anything like that. The only other class that covered budgeting was Math24, for kids too stupid or unmotivated to apply themselves at regular math. They figured if these were the future burger flippers of the world, we better at least teach them how to balance a checkbook.
So, you do agree then that budgeting is in fact presented to students and isn't something schools need to add to the curriculum since it's already there, yes?

It sounds like his experience was the same as mine, where some of it was taught, and just barely, and only once, with barely fuck all to prove that we took in any of the information. Considering how important these skills are, it should be a multi-year thing, with a lot of weight, projects and testing put on it to show that you are grasping the concept. While you are technically correct that budgeting is taught, depending on where and when you went to school it's not being taught adequately so it's a semantic argument at best

Really it sounds like it should be taught the way it was taught to you, although I would also assume that more than a few people in your class did not get as much out of it as you did considering you seem to be very business minded in general. Obviously we cannot force people to learn but there's a lot of cases where it should have had more emphasis. I barely paid attention in school but I know a decent amount of Canadian history because it got taught to us pretty much every year from Grade 4 onwards. I'd say having financially literate citizens is more important than knowing about the Hudson Bay Company

I think you're a little too old. They introduced it in the early 90's in high school. I want to say my year in grade 10 was the first year of the program. At least that's what I was told.

I still dunno how to cook, and I've never budgeted or used a condom. So yea, I didn't learn shit from that class.

Is there a point where I ever disagreed with the fact it's loosely in the curriculum? Whether it needs to be reinforced or delved into more is a whole other topic.

Anyone who doesn't know what CALM is might have went to catholic school. It's supplemented by something else there. That's when you get that toy baby you have to take care of for a week. Us Public schoolers didn't have to do that shit.

I knew CALM was a scam when they listed "Beekeeper" as the profession that made the most money per annum. That, and I was taking computer programming at the same time, yet it wasn't even listed.

Um no? I went to a catholic school and took CALM, its literally a requirement to graduate. Also didn't do that baby thing and never heard of it.

    I liked CALM.

Taught lots, I just didn’t pay attention as much as I should have.

We even did a mock tax return. First time I did taxes I was 16 lol.

Hilarious in what way? Have you even been inside a school in recent years? All you have to do is take one look at what gets posted on the walls there to see it is a programming center for teaching kids to ignore realities and scientific evidence, to instead accept tried and failed concepts like Socialism, and pretending you can magically change your own gender. I don't think there is some grand master on high pulling strings to purposely brain wash the youth. But they are being brain washed regardless by teachers who don't know shit and inflict their flawed thinking onto their class through osmosis.
Sadly this is true. They've also convinced kids that the world will end due to climate change. I'm not making that up.

It starts in schools and how kids are raised.
They're raised to believe they are special and don't need to work hard to succeed.
They don't have any grasp of Economics and the impact of debt (actually 90% of society can't grasp this concept).

So when a government makes them a much better life with little effort, its no wonder why they vote the way they do!
They've tried to stop doing this, it's now all about resilience and not expecting everything to go your way all the time.

I am truly impression you guys remember your high school curriculum and the specific of a certain class taught over 10 years ago (safe number for most of us i'm sure). Didn't everyone just smoke weed in high school and try to not get suspended?
