If beer, 2 drinks an hour from 5-7pm, then 1 beer per hour after that comfortably. So 11 beers from that time period (5p-2a).

If hard liquor, one drink per hour so only 9 comfortably.

Could push 1-2 more depending how much food ingested. Any more that that I could see things getting rough.

That's nine hours! If I put my mind to it, I'm pretty sure a borderline infinite amount. A bottle plus a mistake of a six pack, I think. Fuck, in nine hours I could probably keep up 3/hour so maybe even 27 as long as a big dinner was in there and a few waters. No vomiting for certain - it's about not passing out, I suppose.

Much more likely to throw up from the hangover then while I'm still drunk. Not to say it's impossible or anything, but hasn't happened to me in a decade or so.

    So, a lot?
Unfortunately, I'd be unable to hold down water let alone food for the entire next day. Minimum until 5pm.

I used to be able to drink unbelievable amounts and then function pretty well the next day. Now it's substantially less, and the hangovers are horrendous. Doesn't help that I absolutely cannot sleep in, and in fact I usually wake up even earlier if I've been out drinking. So if I'm out to 2am, I'm probably awake at 6am.

Making breakfast for exuberant children is also a terrible hangover cure. I don't recommend it.

^^ that's exactly like myself as well. Im pretty lightweight these days. The hangovers just aren't worth the "fun", so I limit myself to two drinks an hour, or one drink an hour if I'm also smoking, and usually stop after 3-4 hours.

I don't remember the last time I puked while drinking, but I'm 100% sure it was from mixing beer, shots, and weed.

I know I can drink a case of beer over that span of time, and have a 50/50 chance of a puking hangover though.

Ditto here. Never had hangovers till I hit 40. Used to be able to drink hard at night, wake up at 5am, then go cycling for 80km like it was nothing. Now, 2 glasses of wine, and I’m hungover in the morning and just want to sleep.

I apologize for everyone I ridiculed for having hangovers back in the day. You guys are the real champs.

I swear 80% of the hangover is just severe lack of sleep. As said, go to bed at 2am, wake up at 6am, and I'm pretty sure there was zero REM sleep in there.

Disagree. In my peak days, I’d average 4 hrs a sleep a night when drinking, zero hangovers.

I believe it's almost always dehydration but a strange component must be psychological. I seem to completely get away with poisoning amounts while on vacations and relaxing while a Friday night at home with half the volume can paralyze me the next day.

I function so badly without sleep. It’s a major factor in going out for me.

Put in a solid afternoon shift and hit the bed by 10pm and little hangover.

Same consumption on a late night bender and the hangover is epic.

Sleep makes a huge difference. As does eating a big meal before/during. Have a big meal and I can drink endlessly.

Yeah, it's as if every hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2-3 hours of post-midnight "sleep".

My reason for puking used to be the sugar from mixed highballs. Back alley days.. Vodka and 7ups.. after 7-8 thats over a liter of pop. Now i just drink whiskey on ice or gin/soda. Rarely ever get sick. Over xmas, I can sit on the couch and polish off a bottle of Jameson in a day and wake up relatively coherent the next day.

Yeah, that's a veteran move. The sugar makes everything worse.

    Depends on the night now.

In my 20s I could drink a lot. Too much.

Now it’s low, probably 10-15 and I’m looking to puke the next day.

Oddly enough, if I have 5-7 drinks the night before and sleep I’m fine the next day. If I drink again that next day, I can drink forever it seems.

Short answer, much less than before haha.

Drinking mixed drinks and draught beer at bars doesn't count. There's a reason one could have 30 highballs and a jug of Drummond back in the electric ave days, and only blow .03 in a check stop.

I learned a long time ago (20 years) that:

    a) water is everything, (drink some during and then after)
    b) mixing drinks is dumb (= yak)
    c) shots are dumb (esp when youre drunk already, as you end up puking quicker) and
    d) avoid sugary drinks

What I drink now is exclusively pure Vodka (20%) mixed with juice (10%) and 70% water.

I get drunk AF, but then I pee freely and never get hangovers.

For me it's a simple matter of sugar and water consumption. Too much sugar, not enough water, or both, and it's hangover city the next day. I always just make sure to pound a few big glasses of water before bed when I've tied it on. And I don't drink highballs with full sugar pop anymore, just diet pop or water mix. I'm A-ok the next day other than being a little tired.

I’m in the same boat as ExtraSlow.

Likely won’t puke from drinking itself, but the hangover puke is pretty much guaranteed.

We used to use sugary highballs and drop shots as chasers.
