Stealin' truck loads of DVD players and sourcing Spoon engines overnighted from Japan?
I was lucky that 100 shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake

Any "scene" is unhealthy when taken to extremes. Just look around your gym. 1/2 those guys are using steroids to build muscle for the sake of vanity, not because they actually need to use them.

I agree 100% actually, that's a main reason why I go to the Y and not Gold's. Much less of that bullshit all around.

52nd tims was just as bad when secret street was actually in progress.. we’d roll out from race city, and head up there after... but you use to get the odd legit race car show up after running at RC

Does anyone have pics or a link from these Barlow meets? I haven't been to a car meet since the old day's at Chinook or the odd trip to Secret Street, lol. Seems insane they were able to get that many cars...

Fast And Furious style crack down?

During the weekend, police set up road blocks and barricades on specific streets and were monitoring parking lots and traffic in the area, leading to tickets and violations including:

90 tickets, including speeding, racing, driving and equipment violations.
51 warnings, for various traffic offences.
Seven compliance direction notices, directing drivers to correct safety issues with their vehicles.
    Two outstanding warrants.
One Criminal Code charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle – for driving more than 100 km/hr over the speed limit.
One racing charge with a 24-hour vehicle seizure.

It's too bad those young, inexperienced racers don't have somewhere legit to go and learn off the streets. Oh wait, we had one until the CoC shut it down.

Meanwhile the article below it is about "safe consumption sites"... how about one for racing?

It was nice to hear cops taking about Race City shutting down that caused this on the radio this morning.
While I agree that having RC was great for a safe and regulated place for racing, it wasn't the magic bullet that ended street racing in Calgary. The Saturday night meets were still really big despite Secret Street running the night before, and you'd also see cars still rocking their number on their windshield.

Sgt. Norman's proposal to shut down a street is interesting. It would be interesting to see it put into practice, but I have doubts as to how long it would be administrated before it goes to shit. I remember a bunch of dudes at various times trying to take the Toretto throne and basically everyone telling them to pound sand.

I think this line is hilarious! It's a throwback for us old timers who remember people hearing lines like this all the time. The best part is that dynos are still legal, so if he really wanted to prove his truck has 500hp, he can.

Pretty much nails why I haven't owned a "fast" car for many years.

    Nowhere to let them loose.

The funniest part of this? His truck is actually fast and makes more that that.

Maybe the photo is cropped to not show the 400 lbs of scrap steel hanging off the hitch receiver. Isn’t that what the cool kids are doing these days?
