It's just because of the suspension. That and if it were higher, you know some idiot would take a jump in it with a full payload, and then demand warranty work.
double cab silverado 1500 with the 5.3 / 6 speed and 3.42 gears
fun fact. with myself and a full tank of fuel and the truck accessories my remaining payload is only 1290

I had a Tacoma and now a Wrangler since the Ridgeline. Ridgeline lasted about 4 months for me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
From what I remember the Taco's rating was 1000lbs, so yeah the Honda has a much higher payload rating!
I've learned in this thread that half tons have come a long way since 2007.

Half tons have HUGE variety. It is possible to get an F150 WITH 3200 lbs payload, but that's an XL trim 2wd 2 door. You can get up to 2800 in an XLT Supercrew 4x4, but most Supercrew 4x4 are 1600-1800 lbs.
2015 Sierra 1500, crew cab with the 5.3 and 3.42 gearing, this is my work truck.
1729 lbs payload
2015 Sierra 2500 crew cab with the 6.0 and 4.10 gearing. I use my truck camper in this. It also has a sticker in the glove box saying not to use a camper over 1980 lbs.
3011 lbs payload
@muse017 post the payload sticker and details of your new truck.
I wonder why yours is more than my 2017 2500, 6.0 and 4.10 gears. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I would post a picture but my truck is sitting at the storage lot. But from looking at your payload sticker, my truck has the 18" wheel option so maybe that makes a difference? Also, is your truck 6.5ft box or 8ft? Mine is 6.5 ft.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mine is 6.5 too. It must be my wee little wheels and tires. I thought smaller wheels would increase payload. I wonder what the upside is to 245/17s then. Oh well, it's work's truck, not mine so I don't care. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
