Some good points on how modifying your vehicle can affect its payload and towing ratings including cooling capability and fuel consumption.

You mean that lift, fragile ass 26's, and 4 inches of poke hurt my ability to do anything useful with my truck?

    SHOCKED.

Not much worse than some well equipped half tons '23 Nissan Pathfinder and shockingly it tows the car around surprisingly well.

Seems really good, it doesn't have a high towing capacity though, right?

4000lbs with the tow package. I think it's only 2000lbs without it. I don't have a trailer but I got the tow package anyway just incase. Might need a utility trailer in the near future.

How does a maverick have the same payload as an f150?

A lack of Batteries, inverters, massaging seats, sound systems, power rear windows, bed liners, leather, sunroof… list goes on

Oh and unibodies actually have pretty stunning payload numbers compared to heavy body on frame vehicles.

I guess the question should be why does someone buy an f150 with the same payload as a maverick

    A valid question.

Although, if you think about overloading a truck, I'd rather be 500 lbs over my payload rating in an f150 vs a maverick.

A couple hockey bags can only weigh so much

I'm not sure I understand the question. For the same reason someone buys a TRD Tacoma over a Nissan Rogue even though a Rogue has a higher payload.

Only comparing payload between two different models/classes regardless of trim or a million other factors is useless.

A Maverick would never meet my needs, the F150 does.

meh, they're both trucks, and payload is important, and useful. Looks like the maverick has a way lower gcwr with a max tow rating of 4,000 lb, but a half ton with a similiar payload wouldn't tow much larger without exceeding said payload.

I didn't say payload isn't important, just that it isn't the sole or majorbfactor when determining why buy this F150 over a Maverick.

If I needed more payload I would have bought a XLT or lower trim. However, I wanted and needed the bigger interior, the bigger box and wanted it fully optioned including sunroof.

I also tow a 5000 lbs travel trailer so that alone rules out the Maverick.
