Default Let’s talk 15 year rule - ambulance importing

My camping vehicle hunt continues! I’ve found a somewhat rare ambulance (2001) that is in Canada, but the guy tried bringing it in for 2014, couldn’t get things sorted with RIV and let it sit on his property. Now the vehicle is 15 years old, so I am wondering what hoops I need to jump through to register a 15 year old American vehicle that is in Canada. I’m finding out what paperwork the owner has, he bought it through his corporation for o&g services, but this case is a bit weird as the vehicle isn’t coming from the country of origin.

I assume this is from the USA? Has it ever been registered in Canada, even if it's a different province?

Out of province, bill of sale, register. Should be pretty simple.

^ Pretty much in Alberta. OOP is a bitch sometimes as some guys are stingy on DOT lights and communicating with the ECU.I'm not sure how that would effect the ambulance.

Did you get the lights on it?

Never registered in Canada, trying to get some pictures of the title or exportation forms. Transport Canada sent me to border services who said the export stamp on the title or paperwork for export is needed. From there I am hoping it is a matter of out of province inspections, which are a pain in the ass but I’ve done several before.

I always thought you were basically fucked if it was brought in early? That’s how I remember these conversations going when people got busted back in the day with too new of JDM cars at customs

This is slightly different as the vehicle was sold in Canada, but the guy couldn’t figure out how to register it because the back half is an American manufactured ambulance body. RIV told him he had to remove the box and he could register it when he originally brought it through, but who know if that guy has any idea what he is talking about.
