Definitely a performance bargain. But I definitely think with buying a V6.. You will always want that V8 for the sound. But the V6 Camaro is a great car, I would probably try to get the 1LE package though.
    V6? I'm looking at a turbo 4 lol

Ya that's actually the article I was reading last night....I will user it as my daily, a little disappointing that the base model 6mt does not have rev matching like the Mustang though.

I don’t get why you would want rev matching AND manual.

I can understand being a dinosaur and wanting manual, but wanting the car to do 90% of the work for you? Lol just get an auto with paddles.

I still enjoy the tactile feedback of a manual... I'm not ready to completely move over yet. I like the revmatch and yes you're right, it's already half way to an auto. I drive my Z with it on 100% of the time and it's great! But there's also an option to turn it off too.

Kind of like hill start assist on newer manuals, i don't have it on my Z, would I like it? Definitely.

I don’t have rev match on my GT350 and I’m too big with clumsy feet to proper heel toe. I have to brake and use the right of my foot sole to jab the accelerator like Matt from Onetake.

Regardless, my civic type R has rev match and it’s wicked. Don’t have to concentrate on heel toe entering a hard corner.

Ya, I guess the argument is now being made that why not just get an auto. It's just not the same. Physically operating a clutch and moving my hand and actually feeling the gears thru the shifter and the clutch, it never gets old. It's not the same as just flipping a button or clicking a lever back and forth.

My winter and practical ride is a GLK, I use the manumatic function on it and it works well to a point, giving me more control and letting me engine brake like I'm used to, but it's still not the same. I wouldn't imagine it'd be any different if it was a DCT. My previous winter ride was G37x coupe with the 7 speed auto and it was good too but again, so not the same. I need to feel that physical connection.

Camaro interior still seems cheap to me. Lots of plastic trim. View is brutal. Windows are way too high with a greenhouse that is depressing.

4 cylinder sound and feel is awful. 6 is the way to go on a budget and is really quite quick, with numbers that embarass performance v8s of not long ago. With that said, the 8 is clearly amazing. We have a few ZL1s on our lot and they are knockout aggressive in every way.

As for the auto debate, just make the switch already. I like manuals too but today's autos are both faster than you to shift, as well as better economy. Win win.

Buying a camaro without the V8 just seems wrong.
    ^This.
I'm blown away to learn in this thread that a 4-banger is even an option.

Pretty sure most of the average American Camaro buyer wont know the difference between engines. They just see $$, HP and 0-60.

V8s are for 'old people' .... lol

If you want a car you can't see out of, get a Camaro.
If he already drives a 370z, he will be singing "A whole new world" from Aladdin as he marvels at all the increased sight lines from the Camaro.

Don’t worry Chevy will sell you a 4-banger half ton too

Haha I don't see what the big deal is, I just stuck blind spot mirrors and haven't shoulder checked in years.

Back on topic though, ya, you people are right, I would regret not getting the V8 so I'll either go used or wait a couple years. Just like the tranny issue, there are some things you can only experience with a V8.

Other than the tiny rear window the side blind spots in the current Camaro are not as bad as my C5Z. I was very surprised to see that. I’m considering selling my car and getting a 1LE but probably won’t happen.

The turbo 4 responds extremely well to mods. I have the same engine in my buick regal gs. On the FB group, 400hp isnt hard with just bolt on's bigger turbo, intake, tune and you're golden

Visibility isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, the only time it's a PITA is when maneuvering around parking lots or trying to parallel park.

The 4cyl turbo is lighter and has more torque than the V6 and at our altitude only makes marginally less horespower, if between those two I'd get the 4cyl turbo personally.
