Default Best place to get dashcam wired up

Looking to get a dashcam wired into the new car. I'd rather have it hardwired and done properly and cleanly so I don't drain the battery as it's not daily driven.

Where is everyone taking their cars to get this kind of thing done, will be in a 2020 RDX if it matters. Already have a Viofo A119 to put in.

Bump. We're picking up a new RAV4 shortly and have a need for front/rear dashcam to be installed.

Is Joe still the guy to go to? We were thinking of this one:

Do you think he'd install an auto-dimming mirror?

Never dealt with him, but I can't see why he wouldn't. Literally the same process as wiring in a dashcam.

Nah, most plug into a cigarette lighter or USB port. Have my wires going into glovebox for power.

Let's just say this. My wife was able to install the whole deal in less than an hour by herself.

~$100 to get them hardwired professionally, I've had this done on 10+ cars now

Also you can get ones that replace the rear view mirror cover for a cleaner install:

If your car has power in the rearview mirror (compass, auto dim, etc), you can usually get a little dongle that sits inside the trim to rob power from. Easy, clean.

    Not really.
Just spent a few hours wiring through the panels for the rear cam. I did not hardwire. But its all discreet and hidden. No maintenance. Just start the car and drive.

I did two of my ex gf friends car via hardwire. That was pretty simple. Actually one of them was poking fun at me for the cam. Then the day before I installed it she nearly got into a accident. A barrier came down on a green light and she swerved to avoid it. Luckily there was no car next to her. She shut up
Just make sure you get the right memory card. It costs a bit more but you need one that can handle constant read/write. Not all are made the same.

Hardwire with battery protector. Buy one that's wedge or low profile. Maintain is basically look at the screen/status for errors when it starts up.

I assume wifi connected on is even less painful.

And if you got a recent Mercedes it can potentially be an app you can buy if car is equipped with the right cameras.

Just provide you own storage media.

That said, it's quite weak compares to current cream of crop dashcam image sensors.

Where did you go to get that done? All of my cars are old and don't have any powered crap up there and I'm just not keen to take everything apart myself if it really is only $100

I go to Visions. Never had any issues with their installations despite what Beyond thinks of them.

Are they pretty easy to install yourself? Current recommendations? Probably long over due in putting some in our vehicles
