Is allocation really at 10 units for all of Canada for the 2020 model?
    Lol, no.

The 8 speed in the C7 wasn't a very good auto transmission imo.
No, it wasn't a good transmission at all, in any of its applications.

Terrible shudder issues, amongst other problems.

Dealer told me "good luck getting one for the first 2 model years". Anyway, apparently allotment for Canadian dealers is >10 cars for 2020 model year. Going to be a hard car to buy for a bit I think.

I read an article today that said over 6,000 C7's are on dealer lots in the USA alone. Probably some opportunities for really good deals if you can ignore the C8 for a while.

I drove through a lot the other day with 2 rows of c7's with some pretty rusty looking brake rotors.

I have no interest in a C7. I think they're great cars...I just have no interest in them atm.

Plus, I'd have to get a stick one, cuz that auto is questionable. And my wife can't drive manual.

The fact that the C8 gets a DCT is a big deal to me. Now I'm really talking myself into buying one.

I’d love to get a C7 but not in the best position to do so. Checked out a C7 GS 1LT manual on the weekend and the interior is still super disappointing.

Did you just find another car you're "planning on keeping for a long time"? Hahaha

Haha. I think it's time I realize that's not going to happen so I gotta stop saying that. I wouldn't mind the new Vette as an extra car if and when the time comes but the Aston has got to be replaced with another exotic of some kind whenever the time comes.

As a side note, saw a Red NSX today (newer one) and the rendering posted above looks eerily close to that NSX.

I have 5 coming on my first shipment (probably around May) all are spoken for, these are 100% confirmed.
Expecting more than that for our second shipment (June/July) don't have exact numbers yet.

If you secure a car now there is a good chance you'll get it on the second shipment.

    Hope this helps

Unless this is a limited production car (it's not), I wouldn't worry on being able to get one. Soon they'll be everywhere if you're willing to wait a little.

Wait till Christmas and then put your year-end bonus money down on one. Putting a deposit on a summer car in August is crazy talk.

especially with Corvettes. Your "exclusivity window" on a new Vette lasts weeks, not months. GM is pretty transparent about this as well. They need to make money off of volume.

Uh oh, more people don't like the C7 transmission and interior - what now? Or is it only a problem when I say something? I see the usual folks are awfully quiet

Anyone know if they will be offering the Magnetic Ride suspension on the C8?

Yes, in one of the higher packages.

From what I saw it is on the Z51 package. Which if I'm not mistaken you can add on either of the 1LE, 2LE, or 3LE packages.

To be fair, shift speed and reaction speed (time between when I click the paddle to when it actually engages new gear) are 2 completely separate things that one would quantify transmission quality and performance. Even the AMG slush boxes couldn’t get close to DCT/PDK reaction speeds until 2 years ago. So much so that the SLS and AMG GT dct was specifically programmed to slow reaction speeds on purpose to feel more like AMGs slushboxes. A moot point in auto mode as the car would predict when to shift anyways, but a huge problem in manual mode.

I’ve never driven the vette auto so not sure if that’s the case but just wanted to point this out.
This is an interesting point and reviews don't necessarily disagree with the perception that the shifting speed could be quicker in manual mode. With that being said, is it fair to judge the performance of an automatic strictly on how it performs as a manual? With most manufacturers no longer offering a manual option this seems to be the case. Regarding the C7 though, a manual is still offered... Because of this, most reviews are based on the manual optioned Corvette and there aren't many reviews on the 8-speed auto.

The review that I found from Motor Trend states the following https://www.motortrend.com/cars/chev...-first-drive/:

"Wide open throttle second-to-third upshifts are 0.08 seconds quicker than those of its benchmark, Porsche's seven-speed PDK, says Kaveh (0.45 vs. 0.53). Downshifts from WOT at 60 mph in Sport mode are just as quick (0.95 seconds) too. The PDK also nips at the Hydra-Matic's heels during WOT first-to-second upshifts (0.49 vs. 0.52)."

"As corners neared, downshifts were again crisp. Deep inside corners, gears held with no moments of confusion or hesitation — it was as if the CPU was more intuitive than reactive; more organic than robotic — which ballooned my confidence and allowed me to pinpoint the longish nose."

" the 8L90 was impressive, especially when off the track. We drove more than 40 miles in highway and city settings around Milford. Smoothness was the name of its game. Intuitiveness was too. Multi-step highway passes in automatic mode required no pauses on its part. The 'Vette just flew. Then it calmly upshifted into a gear best suited for casual cruising."

    As you mentioned though:
"While Chevy's numbers beg to differ, the 8L90 in Track mode simply didn't feel as quick as the PDK when operated via its plastic paddles. Don't get me wrong, clicking off a WOT upshift is a glorious, stupidly fast affair. It is much the same for downshifts. Yet, Porsche, with its well-honed cohesion of an extra clutch and different structural packaging, still has the upper hand in smoothness and feel while on track."
