2003 GMC Sierra 1500hd, 6.0L, 4spd, 4.10 rear axle. Approximately 7000 lbs trailer. Not sure of my truck weight, but we travel pretty heavy with bikes, firewood, bbq, generators in the box of the truck. I haven't tracked long term fuel consumption, but it's not good, around 35L/100km. I usually climb Anarchist mountain East of Osoyoos when camping, it's a pretty long and steep grade, 2nd gear most of the way.

Truck: 2015 Sierra 2500HD, crew cab, 6.5 ft box
    Engine: 6.0L Gas
    Transmission: 6-Auto
    Rear axle ratio: 4.10
    Tire size:Stock, 265/70/18
weight of truck (including people and stuff in the bed): Not much in the truck, two people and a dog.
total weight of trailer: 1750 lbs dry slide in truck camper, probably 2000-2200 lbs with stuff in it.
towing speed: usually 95-105 on highway
    modifications: Stock

Mileage seems to really vary with the wind..

Edmonton to Jasper, I was averaging 20-22 L/100k but on the drive back it was really windy so mileage was around 30 L/100k.
Overall, I seem to be getting around 22-24 L/100k on most trips.

I am planning a longer trip through BC (Nelson area) in the next few weeks so I will probably monitor mileage to see what I get on this trip.

I have never used my truck camper with a diesel but I have talked with a few guys with Duramax's and they are getting maybe 1-2 L/100k better than my mileage with a truck camper.. There is just so much drag from a truck camper..

However, on any sort of hill, I would definitely rather a diesel truck haha.

There's some massive advantages to diesel, but then again, there's a real tangible cost to it as well. For the "weekend warrior" type person I think gas ends up cheaper.

I seem to sit right around 19 L/100km in with my 2008 Seirra 2500HD duramax crew cab pulling a ~8000lb 28' camper. I have EFI live and DPF delete. Was closer to 23 or 24 before that. Same trip in my 2011 1500 5.3L gas was 33 or 34 l/100. Crazy to hear numbers like 14 and less. I am not sure mine would do that empty.

Just finished my trip to the states. This is from Cochrane to Ione, Wa taking hwy 22 and 3 there, and 3 and 93 back.

    I averaged 22.4L/100km hand calculated.

Tow vehicle is a tuned and deleted 2012 Ram 3500 Dually with a 74gal slip loaded, and a 15,550lb 5th wheel (thats as measured). Truck also has the 4.10 rear end. My speed was the speed limit the whole way including through the kootney pass both ways.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased considering my setup. Unloaded the truck gets 11-12L/100km.

Towed a light car down to and back from Edmonton in a light open trailer this weekend. Cab and Bed were fully loaded with wheels/tires and tools, and 2 people in the truck. Tried to keep to the 110 km/h whenever possible with short stretches slightly over 110.

From Calgary To Edmonton: 14.8 L/100 km
From Edmonton to Calgary: 16.5 L/100 km

    Truck is a 2015 F-150 with 3.5L Ecoboost.

Yup. Even then, your fuel economy won't really improve diesel vs gas, just your power availability as well as longevity of the vehicle. if im only towing 6000-8000lbs, its pretty much a wash.

Well with towing my new trailer to edmonton I averaged about 17L/100 until bowden when I filled up and there from then to edmonton it went up to 24L/100. This was in Drive on auto. On the way back I used the shifter and used Gear 4 on uphills and Gear 5 on flats and found the mileage to sit between 18 and 20L. On the way there I noticed that drive would rev up to 4000RPM on most hills not changing into gear until the crest of the hill. Controlling it I didnt have any of this behavior.

I don't feel so bad after reading this thread again.

2010 GLK350 towing a 3400lb ish 1972 14 ft Holidaire... went to Park Lake campground and back to Airdrie, drove fast about 125 average I'd say and it was super windy most of the way, got 20l/100km of premium fuel. At one point my slapomatic refused to downshift for me to pass someone, I'm kind of wondering if I'm overheating the transmission trying to drive that fast. I think I'll stick to the speed limit on our next trip.

Got unusually good mileage on Friday. 23.4 L/100km. That's probably the best I've ever had. Drive home today was back to my more typical 27-ish.

Man that is nuts... how much would pay on average on a camping trip for gas? I clearly didn't account for this additional cost before we bought our camper but I must say it is nice having it to sleep and eat in especially when the weather is bad.

The costs are high for sure.

I spent almost $1g on gas for our Van. Island trip. The entire 3 week vacation was $4500. That's including around $1g in reusable camping related items though.

So if we're talking about an extra $10-15 over 100km, is that really that much in the whole scheme of things considering that you enjoy camping/glamping in your own space. Even a 3,000km trip is only an extra $3-400, mice nuts no?

    2018 f150 crew, short box 3.73, 10sp 3.5 TT.

26’ jayflight jayco 4500lbs dry, about 6000lbs total tow.

North-south on highway 41 with NW prevailing wind, vehicle speed 102-107kph.

28.2L/100, 10.1mpg. Turbos were spoiling like crazy the whole time.
