    Default Ford vs gmc

I am looking at a f150 LARIAT with 3.5EB SCREW 5.5 BOX VS GMC SLT 3.0 DURAMAX crew with 5.5 box
    both have similar options

I think the ford has a bit better ride but it is close
payload i believe is slightly better in the GMC
fuel mileage goes to the GMC
    power goes to the ford...
no tow mirror in the gmc sux
    price is similar

I drive 60K Km per year, tow a 8000lbs travel trailer in the summer

dont say at4... i have drove one and the ride is too harsh for me to live with and i dont really go off road, but i like the style... and payload suxs on at4.

What would you buy and why?

GMC. The Ecoboost is great for outright power but outside of that I have no love for them. Duramax will return much better economy towing most likely.

If you actually tow - DirtyMax.
This comparison seems silly. Like, troll-silly. One of these trucks is not like the other.

    Edit...
Oh wait, this is a 3L diesel? Like the silly diesels that they put in half-tons? That's an extreme specialty case vehicle that makes perfect sense, for like 5% of buyers.
    Now I'm not sure.
Maybe add the Titan diesel to your comparisons. If there's any left.

All I can say is I'm driving my third GMC truck (not including two 71 GM C20's) and have owned other brands. I love my current duramax. That is all.

Ford is better from a driver/passenger interface standpoint, how controls are implemented, etc

Gmc is prob better as an actual truck truck. Ie frame strength, truckiness, cylinder girths. That kind of thing.

Drove a brand new yukon for a rental couple weeks back. What in the flying fuck was gmc thinking for the shift controls. Its not a console shifter, its not a column shifter, its not even a fucked up wheel. No. Its buttons on the dash. Ok, so press D to drive. Nope, you gotta reach behind the button/switch and pull it outward. Ok, put it in park so do the same, nope, you gotta push the P. Like, why do gmc engineers take a simple thing and try to make it complicated as shit for the sake of being complicated as shit.

Also, ford chimes are super fucking annoying. They are ok for normal driving, but start backing up a trailer and the constant beep beep alert to let you know things that you already know just sucks. End rant.

GMC- Better truck, better engine ( if you tow just not for speed)

Ford- They ride nice, they usually always have piles and plies of incentives

8000 lbs trailer will put most half tons over payload of you have a family and carry anything in the bed.
Both engines have enough power for that load, both are nice trucks. Both will drive kinda similar since they are both TDI style engines.

^Came here to say that. 8000 lbs is too much for (almost) any half ton, but certainly the whizzy ones you're looking at.

Weird everyone here is saying Ford rides better than GM... I just sold my 2017 F150 and my new 2022 Chev 1500 rides wayy better and smoother. I drive on shit country back roads and railroad tracks virtually every day and the difference is indisputable.

Ram rides better then either, but it's awful for towing.

Afteranybuears I have decided you buy the best family car shaped like a pickup, or you buy a 1 ton for towing.

I went with a compromise that isn't great at either.
