You guys think China will migrate past BC and into Alberta due to better house prices and no foreign investment tax?
Could be good for Alberta, if you can stomach a ton of mainlander ownership. As long as they don't live there, I don't think I'd care.

Immigration of people that are lower to middle class will increase demands the same way that birth rate does. Investment class is bringing in people with more money than the average Vancouverite buying multiple properties. Essentially Vancouverites are competing with fellow Vancouverites AND the richest people from a country with almost 2 billion people
Well, I thought it was over but QIIP still taking money from Chinese. So I guess they can still dodge foreign buyer tax.

Tbh if I was a mainlander Idk if I see the appeal of AB. Are mainlanders patriotic? Maybe they won't like JK's recent words, are there still direct flights?

Nope. Direct flights are cancelled even before COVID. That's why the Pandas can't get fresh enough bamboo to stick around.

As always, there are cases to be made for Chinese immigrants to migrate to AB because it's more affordable. But from an investment perspective, it's not attractive.

    Conspiracy theory:

China does not make moves like this unless they know they can get away with it (internationally speaking). What would have changed it the last few months that would make China think that "have" on the USA that would prevent action? Left field answer: USA was the one that had a hand, if not direct hand or initial cause of Covid-19, and China has definitive proof.

What I want to know is: On the chance true, exactly who in the USA thought it would be containable to a city sized area like napalm?

"about 388,000 tons of U.S. napalm bombs were dropped in the region between 1963 and 1973" - wiki.

More likely, they are calling US bluff to cut ALL trades with China by removing HK special status over this.

    https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...w/75913775.cms

And they are right, China got the world by the balls now with recession and depression coming, there is no way US businesses can afford to cut this off. So this law will come in next week and the world will pretend nothing happened because there is nothing they can do.

Like Jim Rogers said, Shenzhen got all the fintech and is way more advanced than HK now. Shanghai is where China really want the financial hub to be. There is no reason to have HK to play a role especially it will be another 20-30 years before you purge everyone that are still holding on to the HK identity.

IMHO the world's buying power and consumerism will come to a halt. So China is ready with economic downturn anyway with or without further isolationism by US or UK.

They already got Russia and Europe all the way to Germany on their side. Italy and Spain is easy picking as well. Chinese is funding most of African union nations for decade now. So Yuan replacing USD as world reserve should happening over next decade or so and US will go to war to prevent it. China now has as much oil as they want from Iran paying Yuan.

Trump's dumb moves not only didn't hold China at bay, he accelerated their timetable too. There is a reason why China want Trump win 2020.

Meanwhile, Germany has granted to HKer refugee status but Freeland has been mum on the applications to Canada. But consider they are probably releasing Meng next week on a technicality, they probably wont do shit until the 2 Michaels are released back to us and by then everyone would have been arrested and taken out of HK.

Ball is now in US's court to see what Trump and Pomeo's huge response will be.

US official stance: China owns HK, just like how Britain used to. All trade from the USA with HK will now go to China for approval.

Yeah, its pretty much over - HK is China. Shoulda built some weapons, like the 6,500 mile nuclear torpedo that Russia will be testing this weekend.

Can we get some advice from the US for police brutality or riot measure? Don't be shy.

The US bent over so fast, I'm 99% sure now that China has something big on the USA.
