I'm pretty sure there is a strong case for Jeebus being black, or at least middle eastern. I mean, if you simply go by his area of birth - its pretty much agiven he was not white.

He’s the son of god. Not sure geography and lineage are really relevant factors here.

They tried but it didn't get anywhere since the Chief Executive didn't bother to listen or care that the citizens want a true democratic voting system. Unfortunately, the previous CE, CY Leung didn't care either. In the end, they are all just muppets that are chosen by China.
Before the handover they are chosen by British. HK never has been democratic, and Beijing made a compromised "one country two system", promised some degree of self-governing, that's it.

Apparently 2 million people went to the last protest. That's not just Students or whatever the narrative.

I think most just want autonomy and will admit they are part of China and they are Chinese. The ones waving American and British flags are minorities.

To me, the other reason China is tolerating this so far is that Taiwanese election is in 4 months. Any military move against HK will further spook the island to separate from mainland toward US and it's not as simple as sending APC across the border like HK. And Taiwan is already pretty much like HK, anyone under 45 that doesn't have financial tie to mainland doesn't want to assimilate.

China doesn't want to be seen to concede on anything because that may spur other protests and riots in other regions if HK is successful it gaining ground on any demands.

China's system will collapse under its own weight just like every other authoritarian regime/centrally-planned economy.

Humans are built to optimize long term in a free market economy...and probably democracy as well.

I think it's more about if you are enjoying freedom and democracy outside of China as US or Canadian citizen, they should keep their mouth shut when someone couldn't get out trying to get theirs.

I guess that event by Cresent Height got a bit heated too.

Well, they can say whatever number, there were tons of people, but no way 2 million ! .. we are talking basically everyone from Calgary + everyone from Edmonton … packed in downtown here!

The professor from HKU and Texas University, did calculate the last protest, (which they claim 2million people as well) they counted ~ 260K people, which is very close to the 200K people, the official number from Hong Kong government.

Well, even ~300K people, that is a lot! But I just don't agree how Civil Human Right group keep telling the world 2 million people went to protest! And all the western medias, also using the "2million" number!

I was in the 1989 protest, way more people than last few protests, and the number was ~ 1/2 million!

It's hilarious that these examples of Police violence is because China, but conveniently nobody remembers the Police violence and corruption that was the norm under British rule, so much so that it's normalized in TV shows and movies.
