    Default MiFi/Mobile Hotspots/Pocket Wifi

Any of you guys using one and if so what do you recommend? Thinking of picking one up as it would have been handy for my last trip. Kinda undecided on if I should get one or just carry a spare phone and set up hotspotting off that, since we'd mostly be using it for WhatsApp and maps and searching up for info while we're out so speed isn't really an issue.

@benyl , are you still using your T-Mobile one?

In the EU I just carry a spare global phone with unlimited data on a sim card.

I rent one on every trip I take outside of Canada.

Just rent one at your destination - not only is it much more convenient, but you're guaranteed full local network compatibility and don't have to worry about SIM cards, data plans, etc. Then just bring your own smartphone and keep data roaming off.

They are always cheap and end up being some of the best money we spend while traveling.

@kenny still has our t-mobile one if you want to borrow it. CVS sells refill cards to get data on it. I'm assuming this is for the US?

What unlimited sim card do you use? Where to get it?

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Yeah it's mostly for the US, but I'm also kinda thinking ahead should I ever go Europe or Asian or whatever.

The hotspot we have is unlocked, but I've only tested it in Mexico, not sure about compatibility with EU networks.
