Default What do I do with my cat while away?

I have to go away for 2 weeks and my cat is a total whiner. I'm pretty clean when it comes to my home so I clean his litter box 3 times a day and we'll completely wash it out a couple of times a month. We also keep his bowl filled with dry food, we feed him a can of wet food every day and we only feed him Royal Canin. He also only accepts one type of litter in his box, if it isn't right, he'll hold it in all day until we change it, it has happened.

This makes it hard to take him to a generic kennel where they don't allow you to provide your own litter and they only clean it once a day. We also looked at services where someone comes and stays in our home but they had a clause in their contract where they're allowed to have up to 3 guests at any time and I don't want anyone else in my home. What else is there? Cost isn't too much of an issue but I'm not made of money.

I’d check out rover. You can probably find someone that would take care of the cat I’m their own home and hopefully can provide care to the level your looking for

I used to board my cat with someone who had a home business in the SE. Better than a kennel because they get an entire room (possibly the entire house if you're ok with them roaming and if they get along with other pets). She cleans the litter box many times a day and feeds my food exactly as I instruct her to. Really good with animals too, my cat doesn't do well in new places but settled in quickly. I believe she charged $10-15/night depending how long the stay is for. PM me if you're interested and I can send her contact info.

    That's really inhumane.
Using a giant corkscrew in a cat's head to euthanize it for convenience prior to vacation is a messy task.
Using a live trap that you simply toss in the river would work better than that!

    +1 Rover app

We found a really good sitter for our dog on there for our vacation in June. Just find one with really good reviews and you should be OK. I find the more expensive ones are better rated and more likely to follow your instructions. Our dog was $40 a night which is the same or even cheaper than the kennels.

Fill a kiddie pool with litter, 50-100 lbs.
Open up an entire bag of cat food and just dump it beside the kiddie pool.
And for water just keep all the toilet lids open

I have no advice, I'm just shocked you clean the litter box 3 times a day. So gross.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.
