We would always pay someone to live in the house while we're gone. It's inexpensive, the pets get constant attention, and the rest of the property also gets looked after (watering, lawn mow, etc.)

I thought there would be a million businesses, complete with pun-filled business names, that would do this.

Also I'm glad I'm not a pet person

Cats freeze very well, just thaw it when you get back.

Have you tried contacting these people?

    https://bearspawcatboarding.com
We have, we're not sure if the cat is allowed into a communal area with other cats or has to stay in its little box the whole time.

I’d check out rover. You can probably find someone that would take care of the cat I’m their own home and hopefully can provide care to the level your looking for
Someone just recommended them last night, we're going to check them out.

I have no advice, I'm just shocked you clean the litter box 3 times a day. So gross.
You'd be surprised how easy it is when you feed quality food. It only shits once a day, always at the same time and always the same output.

I used to board my cat with someone who had a home business in the SE. Better than a kennel because they get an entire room (possibly the entire house if you're ok with them roaming and if they get along with other pets). She cleans the litter box many times a day and feeds my food exactly as I instruct her to. Really good with animals too, my cat doesn't do well in new places but settled in quickly. I believe she charged $10-15/night depending how long the stay is for. PM me if you're interested and I can send her contact info.
We looked into a few of those but they weren't insured and bonded. I can't support that, not to mention it's probably illegal.

What kind of cat is it?

I looked after work colleagues cat for a month. They supplied, food, cat litter tray etc.
It's an all white British Short Hair, somehow this purebred expensive cat ended up at Calgary Humane Society and we adopted it about an hour after it was put out. If you've ever seen those toilet paper commercials, it's that cat with the flat face.

I've been told the springbank pet resort is really good. A colleague always drops her cats off there and has nothing but good things to say about them

Literally the only redeeming quality of cats is that they're like the lowest maintenance pet. A high maintenance cat is

I used to have Tarantulas and those were about as low maintenance as it gets for something living haha. Feed once every week or two and clean cages every 6 months or so. Sometimes they would willingly fast for 6-12 months.
