I used to have Tarantulas and those were about as low maintenance as it gets for something living haha. Feed once every week or two and clean cages every 6 months or so. Sometimes they would willingly fast for 6-12 months.
    What did you feed them..?

Crickets for the most part, and for a treat the really big ones would get a small (dead) mouse once in a while. You can also feed them mealworms and goldfish.

At a peak I had about 30 of them, but most of those were babies living in pill containers or deli cups, so it sounds like a lot more than it was. I had about 10 of them that required their own full terrarium of various sizes. I found them fascinating, but I totally get they aren't for everyone lol. The more people took the time to learn about them the more they seemed to liked them though.

Just sneak them inside your jacket into one of the cat cafes, and then pick them up when you are back via the reverse method.

Good option for upgrading quality at the same time.

You’re not a real millennial pet parent unless you put your pet in a pet hotel

I spoil my dog and I think that’s retarded. They don’t have prices listed on their website, but I can imagine what they would be like

If you want professional... Rover isn’t for you. It’s the Airbnb of animal care
We checked into it more since my last post and the people on it aren't licensed nor insured in any way and Rover doesn't do criminal background checks. Also most of the reviews of Rover are pretty bad.

if your cat shits once a day, why do you clean the litterbox 3 times a day?
There are other things that come out of a cat. He meows repeatedly if his box is too smelly.

I had 7 tarantulas including an incredibly rare P. Metallica that died of old age last year. I traded 4 other tarantulas and $60 for just that one but it was absolutely beautiful after a moult. I'm just selling all of my Exo-Terra tanks now, in case you're interested in a pretty good deal but you have to take all of them. I think I have 4.

We checked out Gone Wild Kennels out past Cochrane on Saturday and I think we're going to use them. They're $22 per day and your cat gets its own room in their house that has been modified to segregate cats into rooms. They're fully licensed and insured. They also allow us to bring our own food and litter with instructions. Litter boxes are cleaned twice a day for each cat.

I have this automatic pet feeder for my cat. Feeds him like 5 times a day.

Between that and shitting in a box, He couldn’t give a fuck if we go out of town for a while.

I'm surprised there's not a thread by him somewhere "Need opinions on low maintenance pets" that resulted in him getting this ridiculous animal, despite 5 pages of advice to the contrary.

He never said what kind of cat. It's probably a Serval. Which would explain the 3 daily litter cleanings.

I am imagining Mar's cat as that 'showcat' from FRIENDS that Rachel buys for a grand. That thing looked creepy as fuck but was apparently high end.

I think you mean Savannah (Serval is the actual jungle cat, savannah is the cross breed one that people keep for pets).

I'm pretty sure he did say what kind and it's not that one.

+1 I have had cats as pets most of my life and they are great. They take care of themselves for the most part and are an order of magnitude less work than a dog (I like dogs too). Just like dogs, I find people who hate them usually had a bad experience or met a poorly trained one - something along those lines.

People keep Servals as house pets too. People with poor judgement skills. Hence the joke.
