There's actually a term for whats happening. It's called Belief perseverance and it's quite fascinating. There's some studies later in the wiki link that are quite interesting to read,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belief_perseverance

Belief perseverance (also known as conceptual conservatism[1]) is maintaining a belief despite new information that firmly contradicts it.[2] Such beliefs may even be strengthened when others attempt to present evidence debunking them, a phenomenon known as the backfire effect (compare boomerang effect).[3] For example, journalist Cari Romm, in a 2014 article in The Atlantic, describes a study in which a group of people, concerned of the side effects of flu shots, became less willing to receive them after being told that the vaccination was entirely safe.[4]
Also I really like this quote

Physicist Max Planck wrote that "the new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it".

Policy, crazyness, the end of the world...none of it will matter because watching the unbelievable melt-down that would occur when he gets re-elected would make it all worth it.

It will be just like this Canadian election. 1-2 days of depression, a few empty threats of leaving the country, a temporary resurgence of califoregonshingtonexit, and then people will continue on with their lives.

I'm just waiting for some witnesses to "disappear". You can't start an oligarchy without genuine muscle.

Which means that the process has been more formalized.

Eventual articles of impeachment would be drafted by the Judiciary Committee for a final floor vote to impeach the president. It would then be up to the Republican-led Senate to decide whether Trump should be removed from office.

Conservatives have pointed out that every Republican opposed the resolution, while two Democrats joined them.

The rules the house has in place are pretty good - seems like they put a lot of thought into them to try and prevent the Republicans from turning it into a circus, or wasting time by dredging up non-relevant info. It also gives the house/Pelosi 'veto' power basically, which will be good for keeping things on track (I hope).

Impeachment means nothing good for their economy. Nothing legally or socially progressive ever does.

As much as Trump the man, the peach nears. Not even a 5th bankruptcy can alter the tradgedy of the peach.

Wow, that is climate hysterics to a tee lately.

Did anybody think it wouldn't? Or do a lot of people think this was a vote to actually impeach?

Watching the news release on the last interest rate hike was brain numbing. They were really grasping at straws to fabricate reasons for the increase. Christ sake, just tell us the truth. Things are fucked here going forward, and they need room to decrease the rates in the near future, so we have to raise them now while things are remotely stable but in a downturn.

Sure, but they obviously can't say it.

I'm not a believer in centralized policy making like this anyway. Let the market decide rates.

The Governor of California, @GavinNewsom, has done a terrible job of forest management. I told him from the first day we met that he must “clean” his forest floors regardless of what his bosses, the environmentalists, DEMAND of him. Must also do burns and cut fire stoppers.....

..Every year, as the fire’s rage & California burns, it is the same thing-and then he comes to the Federal Government for $$$ help. No more. Get your act together Governor. You don’t see close to the level of burn in other states...But our teams are working well together in.....

....putting these massive, and many, fires out. Great firefighters! Also, open up the ridiculously closed water lanes coming down from the North. Don’t pour it out into the Pacific Ocean. Should be done immediately. California desperately needs water, and you can have it now!

The man is straight off his rocker senile. Someone needs to take him away and check him into the old folks home for the demented.
