This is not news, nor is it surprising.

There is a history of this since the 80s.

He can pay himself as little as he wants to avoid taxes.

And he pay his kids consultant fees. Again nothing illegal here, many family businesses do this.

I think it's more telling that how much debt the man has and how easy to buy influence with him as a leader. Also since he is in real estate and hotel business, explains why he is trying to discredit all health professionals and CDC. With asset not covering debt, he's at the edge here.

"Donald Trump is personally responsible for $421 million worth of loans coming due in the next few years."

So with a man paying only $750 in taxes, how does he ever repay that? With what?

That's quite cheap for whoever owns that loan to run US/World via Trump.

All payments to employees/consultants are expenses.
the issue is that she is already a top executive in the Trump org as staff, yet they paid her a separate consulting fee to her own company on top of salary. Don’t you think it would be odd if you were going through Apple’s expenses and came across an $800k payment Tim Apple Consulting?

Maybe that’s normal in private companies (I have no idea honestly) but in a public Corp that’s clearly a conflict of interest and would never be allowed.

Either way I think Xtrema’s point of $500M debt being due soon is the way bigger concern more than all of the tax avoidance stuff.

Being able to write off mortgage loan interest would be awesome.

The guy spent 4 years and millions of dollars trying to hide his taxes, did anyone expect different? Lol. There is literally no reason to do that unless you're a criminal. It's probably much worse than the little snippet we got.

    From a tax perspective, it's a wash.

Its definitely NOT criminal - and now you understand why trumpet would want to keep this quiet as long as possible. Also because he doesn't want to be seen as a 'loser'.

Personal income tax or corporate income tax?

This thread has shown me just how little most of you understand taxes.

And this statement shows me how little you understand about marketing.

Perception is reality, mate. Regardless of your views on the man, it just became very clear that he is not the genius he claims to be. $400MM in personal liabilities is no joke.

Although, that’s also proof that anti-trump campaigning on this narrative will pretty effective.

The Times noted that Trump’s homes, planes and golf courses are part of the Trump family business and, as such, Trump classified them as business expenses as well. Because companies can write off business expenses as deductions, all such expenses have helped reduce Trump’s tax liability.
I think it's pretty like someone buys a Lambo under corp as marketing tools expense or something to that extend. It's probably hard to unwind what's what.

While I think NYT's $750 is a sensationalize headline. The bigger picture is an insight into his business dealings and all the mounting losses from them.

Again, not paying business taxes is a game that everyone plays. No surprise here.

The Times reported that Trump has claimed $315 million in losses since 2000 on his golf courses, including the Trump National Doral near Miami, which Trump has portrayed as a crown jewel in his business empire. Likewise, his Trump International Hotel in Washington has lost $55 million, the Times reported.
There are many deals with Trump's name on it that goes south and left partners hanging. Again, it's a known fact. He is a loser that got bailed out by HK 1% in the 80s/90s and he has been a loser pretending to be a winner thanks to the brand.

Again, everything was known going into 2016. So I doubt it will make a difference here.

Since Trump began his presidential run, lobbyists, foreign governments and politicians have lavished significant sums of money on his properties, a spending spree that raised questions about its propriety and legality.
The Times report illustrates just how much that spending has been: Since 2015, his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida has taken in $5 million more a year from a surge in membership. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association spent at least $397,602 in 2017 at Trump’s Washington hotel. Overseas projects have produced millions more for Trump — $3 million from the Philippines, $2.3 million from India and $1 million from Turkey.
Trump seems sure to face heavy financial pressures from the enormous pile of debt he has absorbed. The Times said the president appears to be responsible for $421 million in loans, most of which will come due within four years. On top of that, a $100 million mortgage on Trump Tower in New York will come due in 2022.
While everyone is looking at $750.... this is way bigger threat who get to govern the next 4 years if Trump wins. It won't be Trump, it's whoever he owes $521M to.

Well, at least the NYT was accurate about this part - maybe he should be impeached again when Covid-20 comes out? LOL

Nor do they reveal any previously unreported (financial) connections to Russia.

Sounds like Ivanka was an executive of the entity that paid the company she owns $750k in consulting fees.
