Default Power outage around Calgary core - April 9

Curious to hear if anyone else impacted by the power outage in downtown today.
Office in BVS and around 10:30 all of a sudden we lost power and had to evacuate shortly after 11am.
Heard other building like Suncor and some on the East side got impacted as well. Lots of fire trucks driving around too.

Told us to go WFH for now but will have to power everything back on later today.

It's good to evacuate. We once stayed in a (much smaller) building that lost power for a few hours and once those emergency lights run out of batteries, the stairwells are darker than a black-bear's ass at midnight.
We had to murder and eat the HSE Loser to leave the building. He was plump, but not tasty.
    Le disappoint.

My brother said “entire core shutdown” earlier today… then didn’t follow up, so I just assumed he died

Nary a blip over in Vic Park. Ever since we moved 2 years ago, our giant UPS has never reported anything. Fingers crossed I didn't jinx it.

@killramos - are those a pair of extra large gauge wire cutters in your pocket, or were you just happy to have the afternoon off?

    Not unexpected power outage.

    http://ets.aeso.ca/Market/Reports/Ma...nd_demand.html

Until about April 22nd generation in Alberta will be at its lowest supply. Not sure, but I believe its mostly because of Shepard.

I think both Shepard and Genessee 1 are down for majors this spring, so there's 1.2GW straight away

Yeah, total of 4.6GW of gas is offline now, though that includes things like Genessee Repower 1 and Cascade that aren't fully operational. Should only be another 1-2 weeks though before some of it is back online.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.
