If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

More importantly is where are you parking the return vehicle? If riding 7-27 please park at station flats, not on the side of the hwy by the “meadow”

Could we just park the return vehicle at the bottom of moose road in that parking lot and then ride down the road to get to it? We did that for family guy but when we did 727 last time the return vehicle driver skipped out and picked us up at the end of 727 on the side of the road.
    Thanks for the help fellas

You can… if you can find room!

For family guy, shaft, etc (anything else down that face) park return at ing’s mine

For 7-27 do station flats as the society is pushing for that vs the bottom of 7-27. Right as you come out of the trees basically (when you can see the hwy) there is a trail to the left with a quick little climb. Take that and it will pop you right into station flats. Fun little cross country trail. Doesn’t take long

Is that out and back on bragging rights or do you come back using reconnect and Long distance?

If it's the former, was there a lot of traffic?

Ordered the new session. Pretty stoked to upgrade the DH rig.

If anyone is looking for a clean 2018 session 8, I’ll be selling mine when it arrives.

Think the Society is worried that 727 is going to get canned if people keep using that pull out vs pedaling that extra km to station flats.. way too many close calls with people shuttling and pulling out in front of others

riding up to Race of Spades makes it way more tolerable, if you can avoid getting smoked on Sulphur by the 727 crowd

I’m 1 hour 15 min bragging rights to Merlin. I got passed by a couple girls on the up hill but passed them back on the downhill.

You saved our asses. I for some reason thought we rode up to the moose road lot after family guy but theres no fucking way we did because that ride up looked nasty. I thought it was going to be a shit show yesterday morning but it was not bad at all, parking was easy at all 3 spots and there was no major traffic on the runs.

Nice! Yeah we’ve lucked out a lot too, most I’ve seen on a trail this season is a single other group.

Did a husky lap with the GF Friday (just down Aunt Flo) and we had the whole run to ourselves which was great training for her

I'm still waiting to buy my first new bike (in the last decade) as inventories in Europe are still terrible.

I was planning to buy a 2021 Orbea Alma H20 for around 1300€ but have now seen a used Scott Scale 945 (2017?) in good shape that I could probably get for <1000€.

I'll do some cross-country riding, no any extreme downhill, and hope to get into bikepacking.

My biggest concern with the Scott Scale 945 is the gearing as it's 1x11 (11-42T) so for bikepacking on better roads it might be too slow? Also not sure if components have improved a lot in the last 4 years?

For those who know bikes better, any thoughts? Saving 300€+ and not having to wait another 3-4 months to get a bike would be nice. Would it be possible/easy/cheap to upgrade to 1x12?

    Specs below:

    i'd wait for the 2021.

The only choice for 1x12 is SRAM NX for the cassette (unless there is an aftermarket one that I am unaware of). To get a modern 1x12 with a 10T, you need a new freehub driver (XD for SRAM), new cassette, new deraileur, new shifter and new chain. The only thing you are keeping is the crankset and possibly the chainring (but maybe not).

All of that, if you can find it, would push you to at least the Orbea price, if not higher.

I can't say components have improved, but they are different from 4 years ago. Will you notice a difference, probably not.

I think the first thing you need to look at is if you want a HT or a FS.

Cheap and easy to swap chain ring sizes for over all speed/climb… from a quick google looks like the Scott comes with a 30t, all having an extra cog is going to do is increase range… play with this calculator and figure out what you want.

Top is the Scott, bottom is the orbea
