All of our bikes were stolen out of our detached garage this AM in the inner NW. Be on the lookout. Cash reward for information leading to the return of the SB130, I just bought the damn thing.

god damn that sucks, best of luck
Thanks. The heartbreaker here is I was anticipating this; two shady characters effectively cased the garage in front of me on Saturday while I was changing the plugs in my M3. Asked all kinds of questions about the bike and had very hungry eyes. They were lapping our back alley and I've never seen them in the neighbourhood before. So I chained up the mountain bikes with a big fuck off chain, but the wifey went for a ride Sunday and I neglected to re-lock the chain yesterday evening. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Sorry to hear that man, unlikely you're finding it. I saw the RM Instinct that a guy posted as stolen here a few months ago, being ridden by a crackhead near the drop in center. People ask me why I keep my bikes in my living room...
Damn that hurts deep. Post up next time pleaseThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Fair point. This was pretty recent and I did see you went through insurance so I figured it was a lost cause. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That’s horrible prae, sorry to hear.
For everyone with expensive bikes, do you add it to home insurance?
So far been to Whistler, Sun Peaks, Big White and Mount Washington this season. BW was one of my favourite bike parks last year but they haven’t put much effort into the trails for this year so we opted out of seasons passes. The other 3 bike parks were a bit wet but the trail crews were out working hard and overall in excellent condition. Looking forward to heading back to Silverstar when I’m back in BC next week.
I have found home insurance to be expensive. Increased rate by $48 a month to cover my bike. There are private outfits for bikes that also cover accidents/crashes that make more sense. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

All good I’m just busting balls. Replacement bike was better in every way but still don’t like the idea of some bottom feeder riding around on my hard workThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Wouldn't your bike be covered under your normal home contents insurance? I believe mine is but if that's not the case I will have to double check. Unless they are specifically omitted, they should be covered same as everything else.

This is why I leave my garage door closed as much as I can and to keep bikes under a car cover or tarp away from other eyes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Everyone's broke from Covid and if you're not vigilant these people will take it as opportunity for a quick payday.
*if purchased new... at least that’s what my buddies in Fort Mac were told when they had like $20k worth of used bikes in their place during the firesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Interesting, maybe that is just so you can prove you purchased it to help avoid fraud. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It depends on the provider. I got quoted through Economical and Intact but both required riders for your bikes after a certain amount. Intact covers up to $10K only and after that you need a rider but scheduling those bikes is crazy expensive, I believe on a single one of my bikes it was about $400/year. Economical is a lot cheaper but i think they only covered $1500 and then you needed to schedule them.
TD caps their liability at $2k a bike. I was with Intact and Touchstone but left after a poor claim experience.
Scheduling anything with TD ends up pretty expensive, so I'll be contacting some bike-specific providers. Anyone have experience with one, any recommendations?
If you join the Alberta Triathlon Association they have an insurance program for all members, it's something like $85/$10k of coverage but then you have to be a member of a Triathlon organizationThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Was riding with someone who had MTB coverage... medical related stuff, loss of work, bike replacement, sounded really good... but I don’t remember what it was
oof, take a look at the sample premiums on this page: https://cyclinginsurance.ca/bicycle-...ce-learn-more/
So I'm probably looking at $600 a year for 15k in hardware.$2,500 bike value or less is $100 a year / Competition coverage endorsement is $200 a year
$5,000 bike value is $200 a year / Competition coverage endorsement is $400 a year
$10,000 bike value is $400 a year / Competition coverage endorsement is $800 a year
