tendons and ligements unfortunately seem to take longer to heal than bone... but I wish you a speedy recovery mate.

Thanks, definitely unfortunate but we just had our first kid a week and a half ago so I dunno how much skiing is in the cards this season anyway haha.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

I would recommend it lol. I was riding something steep and rocky and a bit wet and lost the front wheel. Tried to jump over the handlebars and run it out but since it was steep it was a long fall and I landed wrong on the rocks and snapped my foot 'in'.

Tore the outside ligaments and needed to have them surgically reattached. There was a minor break but it was mostly soft tissue. Hopefully get to try to start walking in a couple weeks.

Was this local? Moose or Bragg?

That’s gnarly af, heal up my man. My new leatt shoes go up a bit higher for “ankle protection” though I don’t know that would have helped.

That sounds like a massive fall, helicopter out or how did that work?

it was at the bike park in Fernie so some patrol came and then I hopped down the rest of the trail with help on either side on my good leg. Then truck down the cat track. I think the surgeon was trolling me because he said I could do some limited walking this week but its impossible to put full weight on it heh.

I had to watch that video like 10 times haha but yea that's it!

Had the surgeon say stuff like that after I got my cast off.
You can walk out unassisted. A lot of people do...
BS: Cast on for 6 weeks and the joint hasn't moved. It ain't weight holding anything.

It’s on my list. How sketchy is the top part before the scree?

The hike up with your bike, how long? Says 3-5hrs on hike trail sites.

Yeah, it’s up there, suuuuper loose. Same with the chute halfway down. So much exposure in those spots too does not help. Also starting off with such a high commitment line when you’re fatigued from climbing, with no heat in the brakes is extra spicy when you’re use to regular trails (where you’d weight your front tire). The rocks are so deep that you need to hang off the back so you don’t plow and OTB

…unless you mean the solid rock at the top, top… we didn’t even bother. We started just above that pic. The photo does not do the grade justice

Total moving time was 2:15hr but elapsed was about 4hr… it’s a grind. Even the bottom, the grade down there isn’t super steep, but it’s very rough which sucks the energy out of you if you pedal it… and most non-super humans will want that energy for the bits where you’re actually carrying the bike (mid-chute + very top)

Nice. That's how every hike should give timings.
Just by that I can tell how much resting is needed and the slog that it is.
When I first saw the video I was thinking, geez that's a Heli-mtb trip haha.
