A lot of bike parks have already announced they are not opening for the summer. Whistler is also very unlikely to open, never mind the smaller hills. Time to start climbing!

Been hearing multiple people tell stories about their vehicle with red plates getting vandalized in BC doesn't make me want to head out to Big White or anywhere in BC.

Yeah, they have a bad case of the red plate rage these days.

Nobody in interior BC cares about Alberta plates. It’s the island you have to worry about.

    What happened? Shitty to hear.

I spend about 50% of my time in BC with all sorts of cars and have never had an incident.

Tires slashed and the other was dented fender/keyed paint. The dented fender is the obvious. The keyed paint I guess could have been there prior but not likely without being noticed. Trying to get pics of this.

the hostilities are defiantly occurring and it is a give and take, as even I want to visit my property out there but understand the lack of capacity and just prevention of spread in general.

I miss the area a lot... I'd be riding the Johnsons, Power Wagon or Swansea right now.

Its going to be interesting approach towards Summer

Good news is that it's not going anywhere!

I could see the hostility right now in the smaller towns where they wouldn't be able to handle an outbreak. Just toss a "I paid spec tax to be here" sticker on your bumper and you should be fine.

I assume that's a suntour proprietary axle. I don't know how they work, but generally I wipe down my axles and threads and regrease a few times a year.

The hostility is laughable really, especially so close to the Alberta border. While I understand the risk of an outbreak, were that to ever happen or if any of those people ever needed specialized medical care that their community could not offer, where would they end up....Calgary. But fuck the redplates.

What's interesting to me is how there's "pockets" of hostility. Vancouver, the island (!!!!!), Pemby/Squam, but then I go to Whistler and noone bats an eyelid.

Speaking of Whistler, I'm definitely spending a few weeks there again this year. I do wonder if the trails (outside of bike park) will be quieter due to the general lack of operations, or super busy because that's all anyone will be riding.

considering Alberta is the lifeblood of Fernie and Invermere... sigh. I understands but you can't expect to even fill up gas there without being prepared for an argument.

QQ - what recommendation for a Mountain Bike for a 12 year old girl who is really wanting to get into riding? Should she look @ a 26er in a extra small? I'm thinking maybe getting her a used full-sus rather than a new hardtail

Start early on an e-bike so she can keep up with you.

I know kids don't need a lot, but that said... if they're taking it serious, why not buy a half decent frame.

There are really no HT in a XS category with boost, but there are a lot with Tapered head tubes.

Most come with Altus/Alivio and Suntour XCR BS... So I figured a GT Avalanche that can be upgraded with a dropper, 1x and a half decent fork wouldn't be a bad idea. or fuck it, Chromag root down XO1 build FTW

found a Northrock fat bike, the ones they sell at costco... frame isn't bad at all and got it for free basically.

Definitely needs a new drivetrain, handlebar and brakes. I have an old 2x XT setup I would love to toss on so I hope the "weird" square tapered BB at the bottom will take the crank and crank arms, and I may need to find a special derailler hanger to hang a front one on.

OR -- I just go with a 1x9 with a new casette as I think Box makes a 11-50 9x - so I can leave the crappy 36tooth front chain ring/bb/crank alone. I just hope the old XT der has a long enough cage

For all of you riding Enduro and or XC what are you using for a seat??
I went for a three hour ride yesterday and am in pain today!

In my previous riding life, I strictly rode DH/ Freeride and hardly ever sat down...

Edit: Also, anyone want to get together for a ride??

^^biker butt takes a few rides to break in, there is no quick fix

But in other news! Gate is OPEN!!! Wooo, after doing a west Bragg Lap that was a pleasant surprise. Don’t think I could have handled climbing up to 727 after 50km city ride Saturday and that 372m of elevation in West Bragg
