It was a tech run, that I have done countless times before and I just came in with too much speed, lost control, leg straight into a rock. Fibula broke near the knee. A rod in the tibia and two screws. Oh well, could have been a femur, back or head. The worst part was seeing my foot facing backwards, and having to straighten it out to lie down.

Yeah sounds like it could have been worse.
    Good luck on the recovery!

You're story on straightening your leg.

Damn, sorry to hear. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Original sin, right near the end there is a slab that you roll up and down off of. I tried to air it and just couldn’t slowdown haha. I’ll be back out there next year.

I know the spot! I’ve seen lots of people nose manual or air it. Already scary enough to just ride for me haha.

The last rock slab on O sin has taken me out twice on that catch berm but luckily nothing serious.

Wondering what you guys think of my situation.
I have a StumpJumper FSR. Its an older model with 26in wheels, 2x9 gearset, dropper etc..
I love the bike but I want a more front travel. Would i be crazy to swap the front fork to a mullet bike 26/27.5in wheels and a new longer travel front fork?
Or do i just need to accept that I need a harder charging enduro bike now?

Sounds like an expensive proposition for something so dated… have you done any cockpit upgrades yet? I’d start with a shorter stem and higher rise bars to see if that cures it. World of difference on my ‘14 geo bike… actually felt like I went up a wheel size with the bars, 40mm stem added tons of confidence to steering too

I was just there a couple of weeks ago with a group riding blue and easier black trails.

    Easy:
Montane Blue in Ridgemont. Lots of other interconnected trails there to explore. (park at the Aquatic Centre)
Lazy Lizard (there's a lodge at the top).

    More challenging:
Swine Flue to Mad Cow, and back to Swine Flu and return via Fairy Creek (the first couple switchbacks on the Swine descent are steep-ish and probably give it a black rating. The rest is more of a blue)
Sherwoody - Gorby- Happy Gilmar - Old Goat Gorby -Megahurtz and down Black Forest (the routing can be a bit confusing so plan it in advance on trailforks) -This was closer to 3hrs

If you have time on your way back, make sure to hit up the Pas Powderkeg trails in Blairmore: Double Dirt Spresso-Chainsaw-Buck 50, or if you want something more challenging School of Rock near Coleman.

Just did this today (Buck 50)! What a well thought out/built/maintained trail system. The skills park at the base is great too. Didn’t get to school of rock but did ride York with a Fork after lunch, not sure how I felt about the tight loose corners

Berma Grin at Pass Powderkeg is also super fun, so many small jumps and berms.

Yeah we’re heading back again for sure and going to ride a lot more… I’m taking it easy right now though… clipped a bar end and had a little head on with a tree on the weekend… tweaked my shoulder good… and smashed my nose up. Sucks, but I can at least ride at about a 4/10

My wife is not a rider at all and can ride all of berma grin, it’s almost more of a downhill pump track

Ah, nice… was a little worried with the black rating as the gf keeps regressing whenever I take her down something too far out of her comfort zone… I think she is finally over her pistolero experience

I feel like the ratings at pass powderkeg are at least 0.5 higher then they should be? Somehow dirtspresso is a blue?

Sick! What days are you riding Silverstar? Think we will be heading back tomorrow.

Pipedream was my favourite trail, Jedi Mind tricks is still super fun too. Lots of rework on the flow trails which was nice.
