Anybody riding with wireless derailleurs and dropper posts? Other than cost and battery life, are there other drawbacks?

I've heard from almost anyone I know who has it, they enjoy it. Downsides I am pretty sure is cost, and that AXS isn't quite as quick as a manual mech.

I dunno, with frames these days with internal tube cable routing, I'm not sure the extra gadgetry is worth it.

Plus who wants to charge more things? I know they last awhile but still annoying should the battery ever go bad.
Ill stick with cables and hydraulics for now.

agreed unless this was specifically to be used purely for a race bike where reliabilty and weight are key

One of the new bikes I'm looking at comes in both 29er and mullet. I've test rode a mullet just around the bike shop, but never really ridden one anywhere significant. Since I'm taller (6'2", XL) would I assume that I would most likely prefer a 29er over the long term?

it depends on a number of factors.

what are you going to ride? Bragg Creek or Moose?

its the age old conversation of 29 x 27.5 and though absolutely overall effeciency up and down the 29er is "Faster" and gets less hung up, I think 29ers are a bit (not much) less fun.

I know tall people who still prefer 27.5 on their park bikes and this is where the Mullet is kinda the best of both worlds. Better initial turn in, easier to pump and jump and with the 29 in the front, marginally less "speed" sacrifice.

However if I were to into crushing out laps, go for epic rides or have to really earn my downs, I'd stay 29

Headed to golden for the weekend.. any must rides for intermediate riders? Staying down at the golfcourse rv park so lots to do around there. Prob do one day at the hill (only one run is open from the gondola, so probably stick to bottom chair)

I have a Reverb AXS dropper that came with my bike. It actuates faster than the Forbidden demo with cable dropper I rode recently (the only bike with dropper i've ridden). I charge the battery like.. twice a season? I don't think I'd buy a wireless derailleur or brakes, because I NEED those to function, but I can finish a ride without moving my seat. I've forgotten to put the battery back on and still gone riding.

Oh and other downside to the AXS specifically, it starts to bleed air into the valve every so often. I gotta bleed it after a hard ride, way more of a pain than charging a battery! Shops didn't have a rebuild/seal kit for this as of last year either.

For the price new, I wouldn't have bought this for myself, but it's neat.

Going tomorrow too. First time there so I'll enjoy whatever is open.
I expect it'll be busy with Panorama lift not working or might be now... Who knows...

Ya seemed dead (but was first resort day for me). We never waited for a chair. Only did catamount as alpine was closed. Fun time. Mostly rode superberm and swamp donkey laps

Hwy was closed entirely at Field. Took us 9 hours to get Revie

Yeah Hwy 1 was closed trying to leave Golden. I assumed it was an accident and because they already have the methods to close the Hwy for construction, they closed it late afternoon for athe accident rather than let the car backlog keep building.
    Routed through Radium.

Sucks to hear about the 9 hrs.

I'm not sure why there's all the accidents by Field now. Idiots trying to pass 10 cars in a go?

People really struggle with the hill just east of field, typically a winter accident hotspot though

Sounds like a 31 yr old drifted into a semi’s path. I think someone also got killed in June in a similar spot.

Out at Fernie resort this past weekend.

Everything pretty dry, a great weekend. I wish they would improve their uphill capacity but lines were not too bad. maybe 30 minutes up each time.

Last fall I had evolution suspension rebuild my old Fox shocks and put a new damper in the front. OH man big difference. Like a brand new bike again.

Shit to hear about the death..

After seeing how few people there were at Kicking Horse, I wouldn't hesitate to go back (minus the shit hole Golden actually is).

The Reposados restaurant is good Mexican food, not too bad on price but service was typical Golden. Their hiring practices are sexist though. All lesbians.
I laughed to myself... Lesbian owned taco place. Seems right.

Pretty weak forecast in the BC interior for riding. Lots of thunderstorms forecasted. Going to head to Whistler next week and get some laps in, hopefully it’s not too wet!
