My phone goes in my pocket, have Strava recording and crack open Trailforks at junctions if it’s a new trail and I need some direction. Use to use a smart watch, but they’re really not all that smart and I’m not old enough to be overly concerned with HR, cadence is a roadie thing and all I really want to know is if I’m progressing on segments to know if there is improvement or not. The Garmin my buddy uses feels more gimmicky than anything. Also no more accurate from a group ride sample of data. The water intake and air time shit is so unnecessary

Speaking of riding like a girl, i got to take an ebike out to west bragg and i had the best time ever on it. I hate the climbs so i would normally avoid rides like this but i got in 2 laps and loved every minute of it. We did the ranger summit/strange brew and then the merlin trail and without an E bike i wouldve never came close to making it up either.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Love the rework on ranger the climb right before the lookout is so much better this year, that’s a decent lap:

This one, although similar on paper I find kills me more, snakes and ladders is pretty great though:

^^ I wish i had that type of strength. I didnt time the ranger ride but it took me 53 mins on the ebike for the braggin/merlin/braggin trail but that was on turbo and medium pedaling. Definitely going to try more trails out in west bragg now

That’s the only trail I’ve done out there i like it, feels great when the climb is over and downhill begins. Looks like last time I was 1:14 without the 5 min break at the rock chair. Going Friday morning, it’s going to be ruff I’ve only been on my bike 2 times this year.

Just back from the pass. All those trails are so great.. except the Allison creek ones. They should be swiftly deleted from trailforks as they are not MTB trails and really are just XC ski ones. Glad I only rode them as I was camping at Chinook..

Love crowsnest, great variety, fun features, and most of the climbs are pretty mellow… except toadstool, fuck that one

Interesting that the elevation gain is so different. Total distance is off too.

Just get a handle on your braking or lack of it.
There was a Remy mtb video awhile ago in Squamish where he taught rock slabs. Forgot what he called it. If I find it, I'll post it.

^^damn, I’m out of town… but gonna do a big BC trip in September, we should link up somewhere!

    Slabs:

-school of rock, super grippy, good compression halfway down, but if you enter slow you won’t need it to brake check
-Remy video was on Rupert, can’t remember the title. Have also rode. Classic Squamish grip but probably more intimidating (although most are way shorter than SoR)
-prosecutor is for sure the loosest surface out of them all, and the choose your own adventure lines probably is more technical, main route is super obvious on the other two mentioned trails

Edit: and yeah, ccw loop, have yet to ride down bobcat but looks like it would be fun, just a little sketchy with the speed you could carry and the amount of uphill traffic

Can you just book a seat with the 66 Shuttle?! I have seen thier party bus but always though you had to rent the whole thing with a driver.

I just saw them post up 3 seats for Saturday on Instagram. Not sure if it’s uncommon, looks like the party wagon “Olga”

Sounds like you got the blue shuttle day?

They run blue and black ones on most weekends it seems. Blue could still be good too, race of spades has some spicy features… and shaft is a pretty aggressive blue, especially when wet. Could probably do a toothless/Billy dog/Jean guy if they’re doing a family guy shuttle too (or a shhht/t-dub if you skip shaft)
