Default 2019 Formula 1 Rolex Hungary Grand Prix

I can't believe we are late on this thread.

MV finally gets his first pole. What an exciting quali.

Though I am team LH this race is going to be an absolute treat with the amount of tightness in the top 3 teams.

I am looking forward to see who shakes out best of the rest in F1.5.

    GO LANDO GO.

Lost as a team last race and won as a team this race, masterstroke in strategy.

Great race of strategy. McLaren fucking 5th haha. Great results before the break.

That LH pace was insane. FL after FL.

Absolutely spectacular race. Sucks for bottas. Absolute embarrassment for Ferrari.

    fuck.
I feel like this is the best race of the year for me. The Max Lewis fight was classic “boring” F1 that I grew up on. Similar skills, similar machinery, took a ballsy strategy gamble and incredible driving to make it work. Edge of seat for the whole final stint.

What a year. We’ve had every flavor of F1 races in the last handful of races. From the boring ass France, to the wheel to wheel battles of Britain, the chaos of Germany, and the classic strategic gamble of Hungary. Fucking so spoiled.

Anyone who cannot appreciate that this may be one of the last great seasons left, just cannot appreciate what formula 1 is. I can't agree more. This has been an absolute barn stormer of a season. I think we are seeing some of the best driving from drivers coming up on their peak and others just about to fall off theirs.

We are seeing Leclerc, verstappen, Norris, Albon, coming up while seb/kimi/somewhat hami coming to the end. I really think that the second half is going to be stupid tense. This championship might be a wrap but the racing isn't. I still think bottas is out of place at Mercedes.

Have to agree, this first half of the season has been amazing. But that last race was great from beginning to end. I'd rather watch two top teams, and two top drivers slug it out for 1st and 2nd than have the mid-field battling for points and Formula 1.5

If Bottas is out of Mercedes, I hope he goes to RBR and that pairing of Bottas and Verstappen should be able to take to Hamilton and Ocon. Gasly is such a waste of a tier 1 seat. No one at Toro Rosso is ready for the Redbull drive.

Id rather see Alonso (if real) at RBR or see a swap, Nico or Kmag to RBR.

    Great race!

Hamilton had 0.1 to 0.2 seconds on outright pace but not for the botched tire strategy on RB’s part ( and brilliant Merc strategy) it might have been a different t story.

With Honda’s updated spec engine and fuel we will likely see a changing of the guard in the second half.

Ferrari better smarten up or McLaren might be a contender for them in the second half.

And we come to the summer break. Great last few races. We're spoiled to have it all so far.

Hopefully Red Bull can keep up this momentum (minus Gasly, since hes steadily underperforming - likely replaced by Kvyat IMO).

Lets also hope Ferrari can wake up, the next few tracks after all are power hungry tracks that will help them tremendously.

I've also said it for years, but Verstappen is the next one to beat. He's right, if he was in a Merc he would be dominating

This race just made me so excited for my Japan trip. Seems like rain or dry the races are pretty interesting this year. I'll be sitting in the Honda seats with the view of the end of the straight, first curve and some of the esses.

Marko insists Gasly has until the end of the year.
I suspect Lewis will vouch for Bottas and Mercedes will keep him, but they said they will make a decision in August.

Ocon did solidly beat Perez, just not in points but that was due to the DQ in Austin, otherwise a tie.

Who would you take Ocon vs Bottas?

Bottas. He's a solid driver and with Lewis in the other car, that's all Merc needs. I doubt Ocon would be closer to Lewis than Bottas is.
Bottas is proven in the Merc and taking Ocon would be a huge gamble which could lose Merc the WCC. Just look at RBR, Gasly is holding back RBR in the WCC standings.
Grosjean out of Haas next year and Merc will loan him to them for a 1 yr contract with another year as an option.

I think most people, including Gasly, could see the writing on the wall
