I've been ticket free for almost ten years now but on my home from Drumheller yesterday I wanted to pass someone so I had to accelerate to approx 130 to pass cause the person thinks its alright to pick up their speed when someone is trying to pass.

Anyways, the road goes uphill after and at the top of the hill I pass an RCMP SUV. No big deal as I couldn't see the cars ahead cause of the so I thought he wouldn't have been able to see me go 130. Well of course he stops, turns around with his lights on and says he got me at 155, I . immediately called bs. He wrote the ticket for 149 but also put 155.

I'm wondering if tickets nowadays can be fought and what are the chances I can get this reduced?
Yep, you will have to visit the court house in, probably Drumheller.

Yep thats how you do it. Ask for a reduction. Look up the Airdry court house in a search here on Beyond and see what others have said too.

I wonder if I can get it completed thrown out as the ticket has two different speeds on it. One for 155 and one for 149

How are the two speeds written? I’m guessing 149 is what was written on the dashed line for it, and 155 is below it? That’s common practice. It shows what the ticket was written for, and what the speed the officer measured your speed at.

You could talk to the crown about fine reduction or to knock off the demerits, or take it to trial. The 2 speeds written down won’t be much of a point of contention as it’s common practice to give a break on speeds. I’ve written hundreds of tickets for 1 km/hr over when their actual speeds were 20+ over the limit and I write both speeds on there so the court knows their actual speed and so they can’t run to social media saying I am writing them for driving 1 over LOL
But there was no way he clocked me at either speed. Yes at one point further down the road I hit 130 to safely pass someone but began to let off the throttle and began going to the top of the hill so unless they have radars that can track out of sight of the car then my guess is that is bs

Then take it to trial. It’s your right to do that. I was merely answering your question about how 2 speeds written down won’t get your ticket tossed.
Appreciate answering the question. Do you know if I ask for the radar they will provide? I'd like to see it as I don't see how my speedo and the radar can be off by 25km/hr
