    Default Corporate team gifts

I have a project wrapping up and I want to get the team a commemorative item. Price wise it'll be $50 or so. It doesn't need to be branded but it would be a benefit
So far I'm thinking of a nice crib board with the logo engraved

I've also thought about a yeti mug or swell bottle or something.

    Thoughts? Ideas? Past experiences?

I just received a bobble head of myself from the last project I finished.

Yeti mugs are sweet. In the past I've gotten a nice branded Storm tech weather proof gear bag, a nice three compartment gym bag, a battery pack USB charger with a solar panel on it, and a small footstool cooler. All have been awesome and I still use all of them to this day.

I think your best approach would be to look at getting something that people use on a day to day basis and go in that direction for a gift.

This, I've still got unused TELUS/AGT commemorative stuff laying around, logo'ed and unlogo'ed. Some of the stuff was so lame or repetitive that I would just leave it in the board/meeting room where the items were handed out, someone else would always snag it up figuring they scored big time.

Restaurant/retail gift cards were always appreciated, everyone will end up at a Boston Pizza or a Canadian Tire or a Home Depot at some point. One only needs only so many multitools, water bottles, bags, alarm clocks, etc and I found it difficult to ooh and aah over a new trinket for a job well done when I'd gotten that same trinket just 6 months or a year back.

Just remember that not everyone golfs, not everyone goes to a gym, etc and even providing a group activity as a reward may not appeal to all - I do not golf, tried it and was fairly decent at the game but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Had one project manager roll out a golfing day as a thank you on a project, I worked instead because golf was that much not a thing with me and no option was given for other paid time off away from the workplace. In effect, several of us were punished because we opted not to go on a paid golf day - this included several people who physically were not able to participate in such a reward activity because of their disabilities.

Gift cards were the best, some may view them as thoughtless and an easy way out as a thank you gift but for a person who has a young family and a good sized mortgage, a gift card will be much more appreciated than any trinket that'll find its way to the back of the junk drawer or closet. I can still go into closets and find bags for this or that project although maybe I have to thank the people who gave these gifts so many years ago because who knew that reusable bags would become a thing.

The company used to have a really easy way to give pre paid visas to coworkers. Unfortunately, the new president feels that monetary compensation should be left to HR and that things like this should definitely be a commemorative item. So I'm trying to make it not suck. Team is guys and girls, technical group. The power block is a good idea. Yeti mug is still high on the list as well.

Yeah, lots of companies don't allow gift cards or prepaid cards.
Whatever it is, make it the best version of that thing. Something that will last and will be a joy to use.

Probably because they are taxable benefits.

I can tell you for sure that I would be the first unappreciative bastard for a crib board.

I think something like this would be useful to everyone and actually used on a regular basis, whereas a solar one is fairly limited and again more a novelty.

+1 for charging bank, yeti mug, swell bottle.

Another option is doing some type of activity. Take them on a brewery tour? (obviously only works if you know everyone is ok with alcohol; probably a nonstarter if you have people that don't consume for religious reasons, etc)

We got a Yeti mug recently, and I think everyone liked that.

Before that we got to choose between a few items and I chose a backpack, which was ok. They were smart and made the company logo less noticeable which was nice. Black on black logo.

Team dinner is part of this as well.

I have given my team custom labelled wine, beer and spirits to celebrate milestones. But...the guys that work for me are booze hounds so your results may differ.

There is nothing worse than a 3-sizes-too-big-even-though-its-a-small golf shirt that wicks your sweat away and stinks after 10 minutes as a gift.

Here are some ideas based on what I've seen given to people:

    - Booze (safe but unoriginal)
    - Watch (lots of decent watches around $50)
    - High-end coffee mug or insulated water bottle (YETI, Swell, Zojirushi, etc.)
    - Loose leaf tea set (if they don't like coffee)
    - BBQ Scraper
    - Nice toque
    - Base layers
    - Prepaid VISA - kind of a cop out but guaranteed everyone loves it
    - Coffee table books
    - Bluetooth speaker (very good ones can be had for $50)
    - Nice knife
    - Battery bank (as mentioned)
    - Digital picture frame

Unless you for sure know everyone loves Crib, this is a horrible idea. I've never played it in my life, and might end up in my display cabinet if it looked alright.

Gifts I got that I liked
    - Power banks and power banks with flashlights
    - Gym bag
    - Baseball caps
    - Yeti mug and other mugs
    - Headlamp (not the cheap 50lm ones, this was 300lm)
    - Gift cards/visa's
    - Crystal glass set (might be over your $50 budget)

    Didn't like/useless
    - Flashlight/seatbelt cutter/window smasher thing
    - Planner/organizer with calculator
    - Custom belt buckle. To be fair this was during stampede so it was appropriate and cool, but otherwise useless to me
    - USB 2 hub. Thing was under powered, design was dumb, it was a POS.
    - T-shirts with cheesy slogans. Great for dirty work around the house cause I wouldn't wear anywhere else.
    - Bluetooth speakers. While the idea might be good, the ones I got are barely louder than your phone speakers. Even my kids didn't care for them.

Duffel bag / weekend bag with a small embroidered company and project name. Just make sure it's big enough to be actually realistically usable (not too small).

Sounds like a yeti mug is a universal favorite

Every time I see corporate and gifts, I automatically think a nice pen set or something like that.

The only thing I don't like about nice pens is that getting refills for them can be annoying, compared to going down to the stock room and grabbing a handful of new pens.
