Hey everyone,
I am replacing a trailing arm bushing, #3 in the diagram:
I don't have the equipment to remove the old bushing or press the new one back in.
can someone help me out or know where I can take the arm and bushing swapped?
thanks.

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!
Is the self serve garage still open in the NE.
I used them a few years ago to press out / in the rear bushings on an old Pathfinder.

Back when I was young and smart, I removed a bushing in a leaf spring by burning out the rubber with a blow torch. Pressed the new one in using the weight of my truck and a flat spot in the frame. Redneck wrenching.

Legit did that repair in a field beside a falling-down barn too. It was my buddy's place, and he had a home-built wood-heated hot tub built out of a livestock trough. 100% serious. Did you know you can fit springs from a 99 Super Duty into a 1977 F250? You probably shouldn't, for several reasons, but it can be done. Guarantee I was drunk on Mountain Crest beer at the time too. No cousins were harmed.

Surprsingly, the issue with pressing in the new one is getting a nice straight force without anything twisting. I think the c-clamp was my first attempt and it didn't work somehow, so that's when I use the truck frame and a floor jack. Doest it still coutn as a floor jack if you are using it in a field? Maybe that's a field jack? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
