Default Anyone who repairs hard drives or knows how to solder properly?

Anyone had a hard drive repaired in Calgary? I have an old 2TB hard drive I want to get it running again to backup my data and purchased the new PCB board

I need to replace the Bios Chip from the old board onto a new one, I've already purchased a new identical Circuit board.

    https://www.ebay.ca/itm/100664987-RE...72.m2749.l2649

I purchased a solder as well + the Flux glue recommended for the job, I'm just not sure if I want to attempt it in case I screw it up.

Anyone ever done this or knows of a shop that will do it?

I found this company "Openbox.ca" and will go to the store tomorrow and ask if they are capable of doing it if I can't get some other suggestions, If i'm suppose to pay $50+ i'm not interested in fixing it but would be nice to have my old data.

    Thanks..

Your best bet is to find electronics dude on kijiji with a micro solder lab in their basement. I've done this before.

Solder sucking as well as proper flux and tip and temps are crucial. 50-60$ for this job sounds about right for a cash job.

This is not for some teenager who can unlock a phone.

Too bad you couldnt find a PCB with the correct BIOS version.

Thanks, saw one guy on Kijiji will contact him and see if he will do it for cash, yah it seems the Bios needs 2 be switched on all of them, kind of stupid, it's an old drive used it as a backup.

But ya something I could attempt myself I don't really want to screw it up, would rather have someone do it with experience...

How much $ you are going to save resurrecting and old drive vs buying a new one for about less than $10 (EDIT: $70 for 2TB)?

I can understand if this is for recovering data on drive or as an DIY project to prove that you can do something. If you need a 2TB drive, go buy one.

EDIT: NVM, I guess you do want the data back.

Yup, just for data, even if it's working after I wont use it (It's one of those big bulky ones) I got a new external HD anyways so I'm in no rush but would like to get it done sooner or later.
