Eh, it's hit or miss and you can't assume they will drop it.

Many years ago when I first started driving, my dad gave me an outdated insurance slip (given to him by the insurance company) and I got pulled over. I got a ticket for the failure to produce and not having insurance and they wouldn't drop the former when I went back with a valid insurance slip and a letter from the insurance company stating it was their mistake and I was actually properly insured. Their explanation was I still didn't provide proof of valid insurance when asked.

I'm sure in most cases they'll drop it, but if you get a guy who's being a dick or having a bad day there's no guarantee.
Yes of course. That's why I said generally. Always that one off chance though.

I tend to keep a pink card in my wallet, in the car, and then usually have en email/photo on my phone somewhere.
I do precisely the same. There's virtually no way to not have something reasonable with this method.

It's worth noting that I don't allow my wife to do this. I just don't trust her to fool proof her tendency to forget and honestly, I'd rather she blew a cop than got a ticket from one and expected me to pay it.
    LoL!!

So this obviously wouldn’t be valid outside of the province where they don’t accept these?

Makes it kind-of pointless, It’s a good option to have I guess but I’ll be keeping the paper just to cover my ass

Considering doing that takes all of 5 minutes every year, I'm not even sure why this is something we needed.

TD insurance lets you download a pink card any time, so that can be used in a pinch.

also the TD Insurance app has a button for 'insurance card' right at the top. I just tried it, but it actually doesn't show you your pink card, it lets you take the picture of it then it stores it in the app. Pretty convenient if you remember to load it in the app. Better than looking back through all your photos and trying to find it.

We don't need it. It's just red tape reduction for business. Now the insurance company isn't required to cut down a tree and send you a folder worth of paper every time you modify a vehicle on your policy. It's basically just to save the insurance companies a few bucks. With the side benefit that cops can't be pricks and tell you your digital copy of insurance is not valid even though it legally is.

Do they take your phone with them or do you just have to show it?
This is the $1,000,000 question. I can tell you I am NOT giving a police officer an unlocked phone to take back to their car for "verification".

They don't seem to GAF about sending paper out. Maybe it's a legal requirement, but every time I change something on my policy, they send me a whole new package, even if I'm removing a vehicle. Fuck, one time I added a vehicle a few days before my annual renewal, and they still sent me two packages in that week.

Just sign up with Pembridge and they won’t bother to send the package at all, renewal needed or not.

There’s an obscure law about carrying multiple pink slips which means you could actually get ticketed for doing this.

Isn't that only if one is expired?
