Default Leasing a 3 row vehicle

This isn't for me. Still love our Honda Odyssey. A relative is looking for a 3 row vehicle, that has decent lease deals. Since I mostly hate SUV's, and I don't lease, I know nothing about this.
No high end shit here, just looking for reasonable value in a zero-down lease.

Kia Sorento. 0.99% interest, 53% residual on a 36 month lease.

This is probably the best deal

Lots of room but I found it horribly underpowered and boring.

Could it worse than a Sorento? I actually assume everything in this segment is about 37% less thrilling than my odyssey.

Even with the 3.6L? I'm also looking at an Atlas or Ascent.

Rented a Dodge Durango about a month back and came away quite impressed, they're priced OK and really worth a look. If they value quality and plan to keep it for a long while go with the Highlander/Pilot. Maybe wait a bit for the new Explorer? They look pretty sweet and Ford usually offers great lease deals (or maybe the current run Explorer will be on blowout sale pricing)

Cheapest bet, the Korean makes or a Dodge Journey.

I'd say if the third row is going to get any sort of frequent use, this x100000.

The mid-size 3-row SUVs are a total compromise, trying to be jack of all trades, yet master of none... Inevitably, the third row is tiny, there's no trunk space with the third row up, entry and egress sucks and in the off chance there are captains seats in the second row, the aisle between them is near-impassable unless you're 4.

Unless it's a full size SUV, I'd vote minivan.

The Minivan is best really. And if they need AWD you can get it in a Sienna, supper safe bet right there.

Atlas has a good size 3rd row.

What's a full size? Not everyone can afford an expedition or Yukon. Atlas or Telluride are apparently both very good

We're on our third Yukon now, with kid's and a trailer to tow there simply isn't anything I'd rather have.

Ford Flex was brutal for lease rates. Brutal residual. Might as well finance it.

Ya, we got an Atlas. If you want full-size, uh, size without it being a body on frame or otherwise just huge (Suburban is too big), then there are a few options. But not many.

Cars which I would call a full sized CUV seem to be: Atlas, Mercedes GLS, Chevy Traverse. I think that all of the rest of them fit more into the mid-size. The new Korean twins might be a bit bigger as well, not sure. It's definitely bigger feeling than say an MDX or an Explorer.

Interior space/volume is as minivan like as they can make it without it being an outride minivan. We have three kids, but find the captains chairs a more convenient layout. If we have suitcases we just flop down half of the third row. Third row is really good in the Atlas, and the slightl bigger size essentially gains you some usable cargo space behind the third row.

My biggest complaint coming from a Mercedes GLS is the un-refined suspension performance, which is quoted in many reviews. And no power. But my wife has always liked VWs and the new GLS or Korean twins werent out yet.

Lexus RX-L, sort of smaller than normal third row seating but when needed it works fine.
I'm not sure Lexus still has it but my lease rate was 0.4% and 52.3% residual value of vehicle.

We are starting to look for the fall for my Wife.. two top that we are looking at are the 2020 Toyota Highlander and the Hyundai Pallisade. Havent started looking at rates though, simply based on appearance and features.
