I sometimes get tufts of un-cut grass where I have to go over it twice. The blade has been sharpened so I assume it's a torque/rpm issue.

Those with the Oto sprinkler still happy?
On the fence about getting one.
I've got an Ego mower that I bought in 2022 that's had 3-4 trips to troubleshoot an intermittent issue which has been so annoying. However, they are shipping me a new mower and I don't need to send the one I have back...I do like their other products though, so if they hadn't replaced the mower under warranty (5 years) I would look at whatever Costco sells for the easy returns.
Got a quick cut in before the rain showed up. Still thin and patchy in the areas snow was piled and looks way better on an angle hah. But a decent start.
Also gotta level it this summer. Shit is so lumpy from patching dog spots.
Prior to weedwhacking the bullshit. Still trying to fix a bunch of it from when the post guy fucked up the whole back yard when the fence was being done.
Coming in thick at my yard, so far. I'm keeping my mower deck high this year and mulching. Hoping that'll help keep some moisture incase it'll be a dry summer.
Kind of funny, I put a brand new blade on mine this week and the same thing started happening to me. I compared the old blade to the new one and it's shorter than the original I got 5 years ago. I looked on their website, and there's big text on all the blades now "There's supposed to be one inch clearance". They must have had problems with the old blades hitting the deck, so I'm thinking I think I'm going to pick up a 22" blade and cut-off the ends just enough to clear it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Is the select cut worth it on the EGO? Possible to get without being self propelled?

It's pretty jerky to get going, but smooth afterwards. I rarely use it but it's nice to have in the event you have some hills to navigate or use it to get through a gravel side yard.
In the context of DBP, have you talked to any lawn service companies? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
With "very light" mower needs, $1500 goes a long way towards not having to fuck with your lawn for a while*...
*I realize some people actually enjoy yardwork, and for those weirdos, this advice does not apply.
More that in the grand plan of things I hire out this doesn’t rank too high for me as a priority. Don’t disagree with you though doing your own yard work definitely adds up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I despise our corded mower but what can you do when your FIL tries to be nice and gives you his. Take it and get rid of it later!
Canadian Tire is going to have a sale soon, eyeing up some Greenworks stuff. We have minimal grass to take care of, an EGO mower is overkill so I'm looking at this:
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/g...less+mower#srp
Costco has a mower, trimer, blower combo available and is $1,000. Seems like that particular battery might be problematic though.
Ultracrepidarian
I picked up Costco item 1660508 - 21" Greenworks self propelled lawn mower. Regular $799, on sale for $599 until June 2 I think. It came with 1 x 2.0 Ah and 1 x 4.0 Ah batteries and a spare blade. I also picked up Costco item 1694266 - which is the Greenworks combo trimmer and blower with charger and 1 x 2.0 Ah battery.
So for $944, I got the 3 tools, plus 2 chargers and 3 batteries (including a 4.0 Ah). When compared to the $1000 combo item (only available online), which gets you the tools, 1 charger, and only 2 x 2.0 Ah batteries.
I've only ever had used lawn equipment, so to have new ones was a very joyous occasion. Not struggling to get the gas mower going has been a treat.
EDIT: The 3 combo tool kit - the mower is not self propelled, whereas the on sale mower, is self propelled.
^That Greenworks $600 package seems like good value. I love my Ego stuff (got it used new in box, stolen...?), so I saved a bunch.
Fertilizing like hell. Pardon the mulching mess.
Fertilizer (best value IMO): https://ufa.com/myUFA/Yard%2C-Garden...25-kg/p/885885
Good to know! Let me know if the modified 22" blade fixes it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I used 2 bags of lawn food/fertilizer in April before all the rainstorms happened. The grass is so green and just grows like crazy compared to neighbors. Amazing.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
I have it on max opening. And I walk slow. I prob over fert when I do it. But I only do it 4-5 times a season. Dunno if that’s a lot. It’s bc this stuff is cheap. HahaThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I just spread the shit by hand haha. Whip it across the lawn.
I think I own one of the simple spreaders, more of a PIA than its worth.

I like mine. Cheap, quicker, and does an even job. And I try to keep that shit off my hands.
Also neighbor vs me. I have not watered yet.
