Yesterday was the season finale for me, last cut and filled in some low spots in the back yard.

Front is dialed in nicely, just need to repeat next year.

When we bought the house the back yard needed the most work, ugly bushes and a big ass tree...grass was just yellow patches from dog urine and over grown weeds.

On this side I had Bogdan come out and remove a bunch of bushes grind the stumps in May, grew in nicely after some TLC and I decided to fill in some low spots to see how it would settle after winter. I'm really happy with the results, can't even tell where the bushes used to be.

This side was the worst, big ugly tree with sprawling roots compounded with dead grass I hated it. Tried to save the tree because my mom and wife talked me into it, but come August I had Bogdan come back and chop it down and grind the stump/roots. That weird patch is where the bulk of the tree was and I'm expecting it to sink over winter since it left a big void. Should have this all looking just like the front next year.

Is it best to fill the low spots now or in the spring with fresh seed? I have a bunch of leveling to do out back too.

I'd put the dirt down now to fill low spots, which will give it the chance to settle over the winter. In the spring, put a small addt'l layer of topsoil + seed.

Yeah I don't know what the "right" way of doing it but I used the same logic. Fill now, let it settle over winter and re-fill where needed in spring. Mainly want everything that has potential to settle to settle over the winter so I can get it nice and flat next year.

Wait until spring. Who wants a muddy yard every time the snow melts.

This was my thinking, I've got a pit from an ex-tree that I'm going to level...mostly to make it easier to mow the lawn

That looks like sales only, no rentals? Definitely not looking to spend $8300 to level my lawn lol. Although maybe could rent it out to neighbors hmm

    The green up....

Total neighborhood domination at this point.

Thanks to @Kg810 for the suggestion re: https://www.suncalc.org
Changed up the direction of my stripes so they are at their brightest in the afternoon hours. What a game changer.

This is the 2nd cut after top dress and over seed, so I am still being very gentle on the lawn, and easy with my turns (hence the lines not being perfect).
Things have come in nicely. I am going to drop the height of cut this week.

I'm pretty sure half of those shrubs wont survive the winter here.

For those using killex concentrate in a sprayer. What kind of mix ratios do you guys use for spot treating clover/other weeds?
I think label rate is 6cc per litre, to treat 50sq feet.

I've stayed away from Killex to date but I have creeping buttercup emerging again and I don't want it to take over my freshly renovated yard.

I use it in a trigger sprayer and I use the recommended amount and maybe 5-10% more but all these internet geniuses making super concentrated are morans.
That said, it doesn't work very well on clover. It gives clover CoVid and then you have to maybe reapply ~4 days later like you were smothering an in-law with a pillow in the ICU to finish the job.

Ok thanks. I'll probably just buy the ready to spray bottle and give it a go. I need the buttercup gone ASAP. Clover needs triclopyr but not available here, I'll try and transport some discretely next time I cross the border.

at the excellent ICU smothering example.

Buy the concentrate. A 710mL RTU is $10 and a 1L concentrate bottle is $25 which makes something goofy like 30 bottles. You can't afford not to.

*Isn't it already banned in BC?

It's kept in a locked shelf/cabinet. You just have to ask for it.
