    Detach every couple years.
    Aerate every year.
Is this the way? I power raked last spring, aerated in the fall. Was going to power rake again but not sure I need it.

To be clear, power raking and dethatching are two different machines. You should only need to power rake if you've ignored dethatching for years, and you definitely don't need to power rake more than once.

Gonna tackle my lawn this week, have a couple patches where I may have gone a lil overboard with the fall fertilizer last year.

Any tips on what to do? Dethatch, aerate and reseed? More fertilizer?

Maybe test soil first. My lawn started going to to shit a few years ago and I thought I was over fertilizing. After a couple seasons of it getting worse, I tested the soil and it had barely any nitrogen left. The test sample was almost clear after mixing in the reagent.

Is a defined circular border of yellow dead grass, surrounded by healthy green grass indicative of a dog pee patch? I have areas where I’ve trained my dog usually go pee (far corners of backyard) and they aren’t that yellow, but then circles in the middle of the lawn that look yellow and dead.

That doesn't look like any dog pee patch I've seen. The ones in my yard are just dead circles. None of that weird ring business.

Yeah sorry, I mean it's a dead circle. I'm just wondering why the area where my dog goes pee a lot more isn't completely dead, but certain where they maybe went once or twice are completely yellow and dead.

The nitrogen in dog urine can actually boost growth this time of year. All the areas my dog peed over winter grow first and greenest on my lawn, before it dies again.

I know I make a lot of non-serious posts, but this is a real thing and it's quite common in Calgary.

I installed a diy irrigation system. Orbit and Rain bird heads are really cheap and fully adjustable. I cut up some 5/8" garden hose and will be burying it soon.

Went all in on the big bad of ez seed from Costco. Trrrible results, no growth even with diligent watering all last week before the heat this weekend… bad batch? Didn’t this happen to others in previous years?

Amazing! Could you tell me about your setup and how you did it? this is on my list, too many hours lost to watering.

Ive had mixed results with ez seed and definitely longer germination times than expected. In future, nitrogrow all the way. The name is way more badass.
