Anyone use the services like green drop? Im a total newb to the lawn game and no matter what i do i just cant get it green enough and i feel the grass has went downhill big time in the 2 years ive owned the place. I did the whole de thatching and fertilizer thing but no dice on the green. I just checked and green drop has some package for 450 where they'll do everything. https://www.greendrop.com/calgary. Do you guys think thats worth it?
Will green drop make your lawn a bit better? Maybe. You must be all in on maintenance though, and that means regularly cutting, and watering. Better IMO to do some reading/youtube watching, learn what you need/ask in this thread if you want some suggestions, and go from there.

Anyone have experience using those dethatcher blades on their lawnmower to dethatch? Or is it better to just rent an actual dethatching machine from Home Depot? I have so much dead grass on my lawn and I'm too lazy to rake it up by hand.

power raking with overwintered grass seems a bad idea... might try to delay them a week or two
well, that saved me a waste of a trip. Snowed ~2" in the last 2 hours up here

I use one of those. It works well, just don't set it too low or leave the mower sitting in one place for too long. I'll usually mow with the dethatching blade then switch blades and go over it again to pick up all the dead grass so I don't have to rake it.

They make the 2 in 1 or whatnot. Its the lawn blade with dethatcher so you de thatch, cut and bag all in one pass.

I dunno about this brand but the bigger commercial ones are gas powered. This is just the shitty diy version. Designed to last 10 years (aka 10 uses)

I've heard good things about those little electric dethatchers. The other question about aerating, take from my multiple attempts at it, it's a great thing you can do for your lawn, but water the shit out of it for a good week before. Otherwise you'll be wasting your time, pulling out tiny plugs from dry ground.

Yeah, you want dry soil to dethatch and wet to aerate. This weekend would be a good time after the snow melts (if you're a Northerner anyways)

The edge of my lawn slopes down to the sidewalk in a jagged pattern with no exposed dirt. My neighbor has a clean, crisp edge where the lawn ends and drops off to the sidewalk, with a little bit of dirt being exposed.

How do I get my lawn edge like that? How much would it cost a lawn care company to do it? My neighbors are an old couple that has a company come by and do their lawn every 2ish weeks and I think next time I'll ask them how much would it be to edge my lawn like that.

String trimmer, or edger tool can do that. I do mine with string trimmer.

A straight bladed shovel or one of the half moon lawn edging tools is what you want.

I am going to buy a battery powered back pack sprayer - 4 gallon. The quickest purchase for me is a Ryobi one from Home Depot - $250 with battery + charger included.
Has anyone else used one / has a good experience with one at similar price point? Any recommendations appreciated.
Will be doing blanket spray Tenacity.

we have some decent weather here in Lethbridge, and my lawn got dethatched and aerated yesterday. Is this weekend too early to overseed?

take a sawzall to it and a steady hand. (Not kidding). Or a flat blades shovel. Just gotta cut a straight edge along the sidewalk.

I use a string trimmer that pivots to vertical so I can just walk along slicing a nice straight edge (as straight as my beer intake allows)
