If it's plastic, be careful not to overtighten it. I sorta leave mine on slightly loose and turn on the water slightly and it will leak. Then just slowly tighten it until it stops and do just past that. No need to reef on them. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also use better gaskets than what they come with.

I even bucked up for a metal one, and still leaked after a couple weeks. Im down zero $$ as amazon has returned/refunded them all, but will be getting a better one once we move (and do a little DIY yard thing again)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
So you guys install a timer, have hoses spread across your lawn and leave the outside tap on at all times to allow the timer to do its thing?
yes. thats what i did. Tucked my hoses into the gardens so they werent really noticeable. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What sprinklers do you all use? The oscillating ones or the impact sprinkler?
/newb
impact, but i have a corner lot that needs a long spray.
Mine are these. I use one with the spike base and one metal base
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/y...=sprinkler#srp
Overall they work quite well and cover a huge area, my only issue though is there's a small spot behind a tree on each side that just never sees water because the sprinkler hits the tree/leaves for part of it. Also they shoot quite high so if its windy then the water gets everywhere. If I did it over again I'd probably get the impact ones and put one in each corner but mine were cheaper in terms of less hoses and such.
poured rain overnight. still drizzling today. Auto waterers kicked on at 0700 front and rear like a boss. Watering while raining is the true middle finger to the laurentian elites.
Tap, Rack, BANG!

I have a couple of the super cheapo rainbird ones, from crappy tire.
They work great and haven’t leaked all summer.
I have them on drip irrigation for the new hedge I planted in May.
Eventually I should spread mulch over the drip irrigation. But haven’t bothered yet. Focus has been not having all my new plants die over the summer.

Anyone have tips on what to do with a lawn moth infestation? Not sure if it's related, but I dethatched in the spring and this is the first time this has happened to me.
"what sort of builder grade box do you live at that doesnt have auto sprinklers"
- 89coupe, probably...
Thought I would pose this question here rather than in a new thread.
Does anyone have experience with a company that can run outdoor Christmas lights in large trees? Wanted to get the 2 pine trees in the front wrapped in lights this year.
Not cheap, but Assiniboine does it.

Perfect. Gives me a good idea. our trees are 40ft tall easy. Figured this would be $700+ job. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Kids are only young once right....
I really like the look of Christmas lights on trees. Wrapped branches on matured deciduous trees particularly. Do it.
When I was a kid, I had the job of putting up the light son our 30 foot tall spruce tree. I had a super long bamboo pole that I had hockey-taped a coat hanger to the end of. that was back in the day of glass bulbs. Broke many of those fuckers overhead while it was swinging around in the wind. Ahhh memories

We just poured concrete walkways along our garage and inbetween detached garage and deck, theyre around 3" higher that what our lawn level is now...
Wondering what you guys think is the best option to bring that lawn level height up to match the walkway heights. Was thinking maybe sand, compact and then soil mix
you want the lawn a bit lower than the sidewalk anyway.
If the lawn is any good, you can keep it by just aggressively top-dressing it.
