Here's a picture of my front yard, been watering daily 10 min per zone during the heatwave. This is my first summer in this house, the previous owner took great care of the house but the yard (front and back) was a mess. Coming around nicely after some TLC, will have to dig around and see if I have before pictures anywhere. Attachment 108244

Damn thats green! My neighbor to the right is normally always on it with the lawn but even he gave up with this heatwave.

I also have a crab apple tree that normally produces tons of apples the size of fists by now but this year theres maybe 10-20. Anyone know if the heat and lack of watering could cause this? I didnt completely neglect it but it went a week here and there with nothing while we were out of town.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

If all the flowers blew off before they were pollinated you won’t get much fruit.

2 years back I had thousands. Last year we had a storm blow the flowers off and maybe 100 apples tops.

Not 100% sure if crab apple trees are the same but my apple tree is on a 2 year cycle. First year blooms like crazy, hundreds of apples, we can barely give them all away. 2nd year we might get 50 total.

I think I messed up with this. Got a few sprinklers that shoot up into the air as they cover lots. One was near ish under the apple tree and blew most of the leaves off every time I watered the lawn. Though I still picked buckets upon buckets of apples and she’s still growing. Most are fairly tiny apples though, I need to remember to pick more of the buds early spring apparently so the remaining ones grow larger.

My crab apples trees barely flowered this year and have 100% been heat scorched now... already dropping leaves like crazy. Too damn hot with not enough rain.

What edgers are you guys using? I'm terrible with my whipper snipper flipped sidewalk, always chops the edge up and looks terrible.

Is it the same guys who have given up on their lawns, who also ask every spring, how to make it green?

Fresh mow tonight, holding strong, even under the big spruce tree!!

    my wheelbarrow broke.

Anyone use a yardcart for moving large amounts of dirt? Thoughts? Is it a game changer?

Brother has of those yard carts. It's easier to roll around than a wheel barrow, handle is a little short for people on the taller side. Harder to dump than a barrow. It will hold surprisingly heavy weight, had a big tree with root ball in there and was still good.

I'd prob have this in addition to a barrow TBH.

I have both, and agree. It's useful for some thing, but not really for moving dirt, unless you're moving it a "long" distance like front of house to back of house. Handle is definitely shin hittingly short.

Debating whether or not to cut my grass today. Slightly damp, but not wet. It's late morning, or just before noon, which is the optimal time and it's not super hot out.

Is it recommended that I wait until completely dry? Or am I go to go now?

I base my threshold for wet grass on whether it will jam my mower up or not. Usually damp is fine.

I never cut if damp. Clogs shit. Makes a mess. Clumps everywhere. Sidewalks get tire marks etc. Makes more work.

Here is a quick snap from yesterday as it comes back to life. Resumed watering it and will probably hit it with some liquid iron today to get some deep green action going.
