Eventually, the weeds will be become resistant to chemical. I would be careful with the number of applications of any weed killer.

BRB going straight to crappy tire for killex. will report back in 2 weeks. Think i'll do a light feeding and overseed at the same time. Overseeding during peak summer heat is one easy way to do my part to fight the climate emergency. will be taking my 1/2 ton there and back w/ no passengers or cargo too.
Get the concentrated stuff and a sprayer. Teach those weeds who's boss.

I just finished putting in sod couple days ago. Aside from watering it all day long is there anything else that I should be doing to ensure healthy growth? What about minimizing weed growth?

I read somewhere to fertilize once a month and switch to fall fertilizer in fall. Not sure if it's applicable to our climate.

Few Beyond members mentioned EZ seeds is an average product. Any recommendation for a better product?

Go up to Blue Grass and chat with them about seed and fertilizer. They have specific seed that thrives better in AB than generic NA, and people there know their stuff.

Decided to be lazy and add a water timer to my sprinklers since they stay out besides cutting anyways. What’s everyone do for watering schedules?

like 5-10 minutes at 6am every day?

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

A pair of 50 foot weeping birch trees. Otherwise all the shrubs and such aren’t where the sprinklers hit and I just manually water those with the flowers sometimes

Longer watering times every other day will be better than shorter times every morning. It'll get down to the tree roots, and grass roots will grow down further as well, making them more heat resistant.

In this heat, I'm pretty much watering an hour a day alternating between front and back, but we have shitloads of garden, a 50' spruce, and 40' weeping birch. You can still see where the thirstiest roots are even with that much watering.

ahhh okay that’s good to know. There’s been a few times I set a 20 min timer and space out playing games and it ran for an hour and thought I was wasting a bunch of water. Guess not.

Theres just one section of my backyard that is struggling to stay green, the only place without shade basically. The all the other areas are fine and lush and green.

What kind of prep / work do people usually do in the Fall season before Winter for their lawns?

Scott's Fall Fertilizer may be the most important treatment of the year.
I'm waiting a few weeks to do mine, though.

I did this last fall and my lawn was in way better shape this spring. Got the grass started early and I've had fewer weeds than any of the previous 5 years we've been at this house.

I'm not sure if its been mentioned before in this thread, but does anyone have a successful strategy for managing/eliminating quack grass?

    No.
The "best" way is to wear nitrile gloves, dip your thumb & forefinger into Roundup and pinch & stroke along the (much longer, thicker) blades of quack grass.
    Seriously...

If you can do this without going insane, please advise.

This. And then push your wanted grass by overseeding and fertilizing.

My lawn game fell off this year as a result of a very cold and wet spring. As a result, it didn't hold up very well during the heat. I actually just cut it yesterday for the first time in a month. My irrigation system also had a pretty big failure right as the heat came so the lawn didn't even get watered. 0 F's were given as I was so busy with other stuff.

So, to repair things and ensure that next year's season starts off well I will be aerating, top dressing, and over seeding this fall.

Not sure if you’re serious but so did I, my mower crapped out is currently being repaired under warranty. I paid a neighbour’s kid to cut the grass and he cut it too short. So I’m leaving it until I get my mower back.

I also didn't gaf about my lawn this year so far. Haven't mowed in a month. Cold, late spring. Scorching hot summer. I run my irrigation every 2-3 days for 25 minutes in the morning. Most of my lawn is dead or has lots of weeds.

The next two weeks is the ideal time to bring it back. Late summer/early fall is much more effective for lawn work.

I plan to dethatch, aerate, spray with Tenacity and push with lots of water and fertilizer.
